Comment Re:So "guilt by asociation" instead of plain guilt (Score 1) 341

You should try being an American married to an Iranian, who goes home to visit her dad/mom, and speak with her on the phone long distance twice a week. I hang up the phone wondering if I'm going to get 'visited' by someone, every time.

And for those who say where were you in 2006 when they started doing this with phone calls, I was there, saying 'No!', but unfortunately it wasn't enough.

Its kind of humiliating actually, thinking that whatever I was saying to my wife, like I miss/love you, etc., was probably being listened to by TWO countries government employees.

Comment Re:Did they get rid of the fake lens flares? (Score 1) 514

For me, the problem is that they're distracting, in the same way that a company logo's is during a movie show on TV, even when off in a corner (to prevent copying and reselling the movie).

Especially with all the lens flares jokes going around on the Internet, its like someone said to me "look at that yellow car", and now I'm noticing ALL the yellow cars around me.

Its really distracting to me, and pulls me out of the story/movie.

Good riddance to them. As a native Californian, who has lived in other states (Texas, Arizona, etc.), I love that my state laws protect me from corporations bad practices.

Also, if you were right, we would not be in such a hurry to do business in China. Business goes where the customers are at. There's a VERY high threshold of anti-business practices before a corporation will forgo profits and move on.

Its ok to make it harder for corporations to make money, as long as its fair/reasonable. They'll make better products, that serves people better.

People > Corporations.

Comment Re:EA at it again (Score 1) 569

Unless EA starts astroturfing to bring the ratings up, I suspect this game is pretty much doomed to be a total bust, at least as far as sales on Amazon are concerned. You don't just "get over" that strong a negative reaction to your product.

If you look at MetaCritic User Reviews for SimCity, the user reviews that have a '10' score, you'd think EA is already astroturfing.
