Comment Bullshit. CR is right on (Score 5, Informative) 119

Every single one of our surface systems have issues. Most of the problems orbit around really crappy drivers from microsoft related to power management and switching between tablet/laptop modes. The remaining seem to be caused by crappy patches for windows 10 that need to go through more debugging before release. Surfaces are not reliable, and most of our users are looking to get rid of the ones we have deployed.

The one good area is hardware reliability. The hardware itself seems to be rock solid. It's their legendary programmers that are letting the team down. For the price, it's quite disappointing.

You are missing the point. To continue using Kaspersky REQUIRES I put my name on the line to certify it. This is not required of other solutions as they are not suspect or staffed with ex KGB agents. Before this bullshit I considered that a plus as it demonstrated skills needed.

This time is no different. There is tons of smoke, and a despot with his hand near the wheel. Regardless of whether or not there is currently corruption, there is nothing stopping it from happening undetected in the future. We have been debating this situation here, at the executive level for over a year. I have been steadfastly against making a change (We use Kaspersky), but at a certain point it comes down to putting your name on the line certifying Kaspersky as safe. Are you comfortable with that? I'm not. So I had to give in. I'm not going to put my job on the line for a commodity security software.

The point of cutting the cord it to get rid of it. This isn't switching to directv, or netflix.

The point of cutting the cord is to no longer be bound to buying things you are not watching or did not want in the first place.

99% of what you want can be streamed from network sites online for free 100% legally. I'm not talking about piracy. This is straight from the main feeds. I have been doing this for a good 15 years now. Seven years ago it was only possible to steam a couple stations. Now all the networks do it. Fuck netflix. Don't even bother. what a waste. like shopping at dollar tree,

Layer that in with a ppv/subscription off itunes and you are good to go. Add in Prime which you probably already have but don't use, and you are golden.

Trade off for you(not for me) little no no live tv(do not want) no sports(Do not want). The best part is when ever march madness comes around, you don't even notice!!! You could always get an antenna... but that would be a step backwards for me. I want to watch WHEN not what WHAT.

In fact the meter is a far more accurate measure than the thermostat ever could be. It only controls one appliance in a household, and you have no idea what kind of appliance they are actually hooked up to. It could be super efficient, or an old clunker... gas or electric...geothermal? There has to be more to this.

No need to re-engineer. Just need a simple rule.

All cars should cut gas as soon as the brakes are engaged. Imagine the effect that would have had on Toyota a few years back. Double-pedal is a failure, and should be interpreted as such. Gas should not override/overcome the brakes. What if there was a mechanical failure in the gas pedal that led to a Full on position? Not to mention the energy wasted during such a maneuver.

Why hasn't this happened?
