More like they're spineless invertebrates unwilling to stand up to their principles. Seriously, BHO and the Dems have backed down on pretty much every single serious issue they ran on, despite having control of both houses and the presidency. At times, even the threat of a filibuster was enough for them to back down. In the last two years, they've backed down on closing Guantanamo, ending DADT, net neutrality, warrentless wiretapping, etc, etc, not to mention the fiascos going on with the economy. It seems that even the threat of negative poll ratings, or the hint of any suggestion that they're Endangering American Lives(TM) by not constraining civil liberties has them cringing.

From TFA :

The platform introduces new features such as Anti-Theft 3.0 (AT 3.0), which combines hardware and software to remotely disable systems when they are lost or stolen. The new hardware allows help desks to remotely shut down laptops over 3G networks, even when an OS is not running. Earlier Anti-Theft versions were able to communicate with remote PCs over wired and Wi-Fi networks. The new features can prevent a remote PC from booting even if the hard drive is replaced.

Now, I'm no expert on the processor's capabilities, but from reading TFA, doesn't this built-in killswitch have massive potential for abuse? Wardriving with a wifi to mass-disable computers permanently using some temporarily-discovered security flaw? Our entertainment monopolies forcing computers to be disabled for perceived DRM or copyright violations? Oppressive governments having one more tool of internet control at their disposal?

China has greater than 90% literacy, and the more advanced Chinese speaking societies (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore) basically have full Chinese literacy. While Japan uses a smaller subset of those characters, the Japanese have full literacy and seemed to have functioned perfectly well while retaining those characters in their writing system. The Chinese people hardly have problems learning, reading, or writing their own language.

the chinese have problems to learn his own language, because have all that signs, it make it unncesary complex.

26 letter lets you write anything, you dont need more letters, really. ask any novelist.

also, programming languages are something international, and not all keyboards have all keys, even keys like { or } are not on all keyboards, so tryiing to use funny characters like ñ would make programming for some people really hard.

all in all, this is not a very smart idea , imho

Judging by your post, it appears that you have problems learning your own language. It certainly appears that simple spelling, capitalization, punctuation and correct grammar in the English language are apparently beyond your abilities.

We don't need to start coding in Chinese, but the Chinese should certainly be given the option of coding in Chinese. Not everyone is equally gifted at learning foreign languages (nor may they be given the opportunity or practice to), but they may yet be brilliant programmers. Being able to draw upon more programmers from a population of a bilillion plus by giving them the ability to program within their native writing has the potential to unleash a lot of creativity into the field. If only 1% of the population had the potential to be good programmers but perhaps not in English, and only 1% of those turn out to be brilliant programmers, we'd still be unleashing a hundred thousand of them into the world, and who knows what kind of ideas they would have, given the opportunity to express them differently than traditional programming languages?

It was USA who divided the country in half in the first place.

You're welcome yet again. If it wasn't for the US demands for the division in the first place, Korea would already have been united........by the Russians who were invading Japanese territory during the last days of World War 2 and in a rush to occupy as much land as possible. The division saved the southern half of the country from the fate of their grass-and-tree-bark-eating northern neighbors.

And which are the poorest countries in the world? Take Somolia and Afghanistan, for example. Absolutely zero government regulation, no government tax collection, completely lassaiz-faire free market, no environment or safety laws, and all services (such that exist) are completely privatized. The little government spending that likely does exist, is on the military. Oh, and as close to 100% male gun ownership as any country you're likely to see. In other words, the ultimate libertarian fantasy fulfilled.
