Comment Re:open-source voting machines. (Score 1) 127

The only problem I see with computer printed ballots is that it allows for easier ballot box stuffing. When everyone manually fills in the circle or completes the line you get a lot of variation even with that simple action. Printed ones look all time same and would be more difficult to verify as cast by humans.

You didn't say how much space was needed, but many people have next to nothing on their machines. Copy whatever is appropriate onto as many family/friends machines as possible. Also 1TB drives are very cheap, store copies offsite with those.

Whatever you do, keep it as simple as possible (e.g. no RAID). Reevaluate things every 5-10 years to be sure whatever medium you use isn't becoming obsolete/unreadable.

The trouble is advertising is not a fixed number. Firms are constantly looking for ways to increase ad revenue from the same product. Let's add a couple more spots. How about some product placement. Lets sell sponsorships for these segments. It's a never ending process.

Ultimately they don't seem to care that they are devaluating the very medium used to get the message across.

From Wikipedia:
Feed (2002) is a young adult science fiction novel written by M. T. (Matthew Tobin) Anderson. The novel focuses on issues such as corporate power, consumerism, information technology, data mining, and environmental decay, occasionally from a sardonic perspective. The novel depicts American society's descent into a culture that revolves entirely around advertising and corporate gain from the perspective of an American teenager and his friends.

As with movies, the quality of extras varies greatly. Simple goof reels and dry technical descriptions are one thing, but when they take the time to find real stories in the process it's a whole different world. On a movie you truly like, a good commentary and collection of extras videos can be as enjoyable as the movie itself.
