Actually, no. The PS3 fails because it was only the early model PS3's that had that ability. Furthermore, it wasn't really clear which models of PS3 had the compatibility or didn't have it. So, what ended up happening was that people like me who bought the PS3 later in it's life found out the hard way that it wouldn't play their old PS2 games. Thanks Sony for confusing your customers.
And I would postulate that people running OSX are even easier to fool into running a trojan. Good thing for them, OSX isn't a very large target for trojan writers.
Actually, the last time our corp went to war, we bought a stock of cheap frigs, ECM skill books, and the necessary fittings for an ECM frig in order to hand out to the many new players we had in our corp. You get enough frigs jamming the target ship, and it won't be able to target even the largest battleships in a fleet. 1 day of training ECM, and they were just as useful in a fleet engagement as anybody else.
I think you've just pointed out one of the major reasons I enjoy EVE. It's one of the few MMO's where a 1 week old player can be effective.
Actually, these days the Make a Wish foundation will also handle requests from patients who have contracted conditions that are usually terminal but from which they may make a recovery.
I have a 2nd or 3rd cousin (I can never remember how it works past 1st cousin) who took a trip to Disney World but who was also predicted to make a recovery from her cancer.
So, best case scenario, this kid recovers and gets to live out the rest of his childhood with the coolest fort that any kid could ask for. I hope that's what happens, anyway.

Actually, we use Google mail for our mail services but with an on-site SMTP server for our multi-function scanners which don't support SSL. I do subscribe to Postini, and until we made the switch to Google Mail I did have a filter in place to drop anything from *@mydomain.com, but after switching to Google mail, the result was that any emails from the SMTP server on our LAN were dropped by Postini since they traverse outside of our Google mail domain. If our bloody multi-functions would support connecting via SSL to Google's mail servers I could reapply that rule, but as it is I'm stuck with what we've got.

Actually, my U-Verse DVR will allow me to remove channels from view in the default line up. In fact, the installer very helpfully showed me where to go in the menu to access this feature. It was a very pleasant surprise coming to U-Verse from previous providers who simply provided the ability to construct a favorite channel list.

Total anecdote here (which is why I'm posting without Karma Bonus), but you reminded me of the first time I came home to visit over Thanksgiving during my freshman year of college. My mom, who wrote code for a living, was interested in the kind of things we'd been doing in my Intro to C class. So, I dialed up to the internet, ssh'd into the RS6000's at school, and launched a simple ATM simulator that I had just written for class. She sits down and the first thing she does is hit Withdrawal and punch in a negative number. I learned a valuable lesson about input validation that night. While I'd checked for everything else (check against balance, checked for integer values), I never thought to check for negative numbers.

That's a good point, but maybe not an apt comparison. And perhaps in the interests in brevity, I didn't fully elucidate my point. We're talking about an emerging technology requiring significant R&D. 5% of the population may be targeted later, but not initially. That 5% of the population isn't going to be where you will recoup your investment initially. Maybe I should have appended the words "right now" to my initial statement, but that is neither here nor there.
Easy. You just price it high enough to be profitable, and hope the market (however small) will bear it.
