The RTS MMO genre could be really cool if done right (and if you can keep juvenile asses off of your team).

You imply there are online games out there that lack any juveniles whatsoever. Considering this - it would seem kind of pointless to insult any game for the potential juvenile behaviour contained therein when juvenile behaviour is a problem any and all games face

Of course what I want to happen is wishful thinking as well. Having a 3rd major operating system available to the world will force Microsoft AND Apple both to clean up their acts. I have a feeling, they will spend money effecting this change, and all they will have to show for it are the bills for all the signs they had to replace. Whatever happened to selling games? I used to buy all my old sierra adventure games there. Three days before PC gaming started becoming actually popular they stopped carrying games. Friggin idiots. Oh well out with the old in with the new. Buhbye Radio Shack.

US Supercomputer Lead Sparks Russian Govt's Competitive Drive 74

CWmike writes "Russia's launch of Sputnik in 1957 triggered a crisis of confidence in the US that helped drive the creation of a space program. Now, Russia is comparing the US's achievements in supercomputing with theirs, and they don't like what they see. In a speech on Tuesday, Russia's President, Dmitry Medvedev, criticized his country's IT industry almost to the point of sarcasm for failing to develop supercomputing technology, and urged a dramatic change in Russia's use of high-performance computing. Medvedev, at the opening address of a Security Council Meeting on Supercomputers in Moscow, told attendees that 476 out of the 500 supercomputers on the Top500 list were manufactured in the United States. 'Therefore, in general, our situation is very difficult,' he said."

None of that changes the fact that saying it is "daunting" to get into Zelda is extremely silly. Every game stands on its own. Any connections between them are entirely superfluous.

Are you being sarcastic? Last time I checked, aside from any of the gameboy games that I never played, every zelda game, is about, the tri force, gannon, princess zelda, and link. The only exception that I know of to this is Majoras Mask. And it could be argued with the whole shadow world angle, that Twilight Princess is even a remake of the SNES Zelda. They are all the same. What they need to do, is kill zelda link gannon and the tri force, keep the gameplay. And make a NEW story. New characters, new everything. Zelda has been done to death. Mario too. Time to put these old horses to pasture and let them retire in peace.

Comment Re:perhaps a bit off topic (Score 1) 1120

This is a very important question. The quick answer is simply this. While people with no refined tastes continue to be the mass of the buying power in the market, there is no market in making games for people with more refined tastes. Either you can sit on your known IP and milk it dry (IM LOOKING AT YOU SQUARE ENIX) or you can take a chance and make something new and interesting. But in the end, games are being marketed not to the people that made the market, but to lazy sunday gamers who dont want anything too challenging, they just wanna take part in a story they can eventually finish.

Personally I would have to agree with anyone who said reboot Descent. But when it comes to the discussion of Sierra games, I have to say for me, Quest for Glory would be the series most deserving of a reboot. I would also like to see Shadowrun redone. The SNES game was pretty cool for its day. Now we just need Bethesda to grab the rights and impress us all.
