Comment Human Rights (Score 1) 272

I think access to internet will be, if not already is, a basic necessity. As such, I think the following articles from a stuff called "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" should be remembered by those greed politians:

-Article 9
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.
-Article 10
Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him.
-Article 11
Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defence.
No one shall be held guilty of any penal offence on account of any act or omission which did not constitute a penal offence, under national or international law, at the time when it was committed. Nor shall a heavier penalty be imposed than the one that was applicable at the time the penal offence was committed.
-Article 12
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.
-Article 19
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

There are several problems about these crazy educational theories:

-Maybe the kid doesn't find the French Revolution interesting, but at least he will be hearing once about it in his life.
-Schools can be boring as hell, but you'll be seeing the material. You dont care about what you dont even know that exists... you cant create stuff without tools.
-Assuming overall population will have a natural instinct to learn about basic maths and others is a flawed hypothesis.

You can think about dumb and genious people as flutuations around a mean. If you lower this mean curve, this will be a huge step to the past.

Funny reading this. I had a deep depression over the years, some times it does return to haunt me. The solution I found was the same... I keep studying. Some people don't understand my reasons, but I keep on studying japanese, german, I also read a lot about psychology and even astrology (hit me). I wish I had time to go college again and study formally psychology and neuropsychology, maybe pharmacy and others if God gives me enough time. I also I'm working to finish my master thesis in aeronautic engineering and starting my PhD. I wish I had more futile thoughts... it seems people have more desire to stay "here". Games are just one door to get out of the body prison and skip reality when it gets boring. It was nice to me see other ppl have the same problem... it's some kind of relief.

I'm a mechanical engineer, master in aeronautics and I agree with you totally. Most people don't care about our profession, and this reflects in wages. Soon or later the actual engineers will retire or leave to a more profitable area... at that time, it will take 10 years to create good replacement.
