I have a 2002 Sunfire. I'm going to have to disagree on the wonderful handling, but all-in-all it isn't a bad car.

I get frustrated at the "cheapness" feel that the frame and interior have to it and how it turns into a go-kart with the A/C on, but it has proven to be a very reliable car so far at 86,000 miles. The claim of 240k miles on one does give me some encouragement.

I average 25mpg city in the summer, 27-28 winter and 32-34 highway.

I can honestly say that if this isn't the way the universe works, it's the way it should work.

I also really enjoyed this book and should probably re-read it. It really forced me to re-evaluate the way my brain works. I particularly like the way he criticizes some of mainstream science's inability to handle this type of study. I will admit that some of his examples on the mysticism were a bit out there but then again the whole holographic theory encourages explanations of such phenomenon. as a veteran user of psychedelic drugs I'm going to have to strongly support the direction that this study is going. On my highest dose of psilocybin mushrooms, ego death occurred and I became a part of everything. the mystery is much deeper than we all can comprehend

okay... so actually Israel has damaged a main Gaza water line - cutting off supplies to 30,000 people at the Nuseirat Camp. BUT... it would be a pretty neat situation to see all the citizens dosed. I'm sure it wouldn't provide sudden introspection, peace and harmony. More likely an insane bloodshed masacre by confused people. but it would be pretty fucking hilarious!

I live in Mobile, Alabama and that's what I did after Hurricane Katrina. It may not be the most efficient energy conversion but it did fine for running a TV so we could watch the news (and charging my laptop so I could dial in thru Netzero to unnecessarily surf the net). I will admit that a portable generator would have been nice to power a window A/C unit... if only i could have routed my car's AC blower to the house

Submission + - Radiohead's Nude remixed on old hardware

screamphilling writes: Radiohead held an online contest to remix "Nude" from their album — "In Rainbows" This was quite a difficult task for everybody that entered, as Nude is in 6/8 timing, and 63bpm. Most music that's played in clubs is around 120bpm and usually 4/4 timing. It's pretty difficult to seamlessly mix a waltz beat into a DJ set.

This resulted in lots of generic entries consisting of a typical 4/4 beat, but with arbitrary clips from "Nude" thrown in so that they qualified for the contest.

Thom Yorke joked at the ridiculousness of it in an interview for NPR radio, hinting that they set the competition to find out how people would approach such a challenging task.

James Houston created this video for his final graphic design project at the Glasgow School of Art.

he states "I grouped together a collection of old redundant hardware, and placed them in a situation where they're trying their best to do something that they're not exactly designed to do, and not quite getting there."

here's the setup:
Sinclair ZX Spectrum — Guitars (rhythm & lead)
Epson LX-81 Dot Matrix Printer — Drums
Hard Drive array — Act as a collection of bad speakers — Vocals & FX
