Submission + - 'Dungeons & Dragons' co-creator dies (cnn.com)

Martin Lawrence writes: "David Lance Arneson, who helped trigger the global phenomenon of role-playing games as co-inventor of "Dungeons & Dragons," has died at the age of 61. A statement on the game's official Web site, wizards.com, said Arneson died Tuesday evening "after waging one final battle against cancer." Arneson "developed many of the fundamental ideas of role playing: that each player controls just one hero, that heroes gain power through adventures, and that personality is as important as combat prowess," the statement said. The game's co-creator, Gary Gygax, died last year."

Submission + - Could you stop believing in physics?

mlawrence writes: "I was watching the original Child's Play last night on TV. The woman saw the doll come to life, but could not convince a police detective. We believe a doll moving on its own (ignoring any religious beliefs) is impossible. This got me wondering how sane and intelligent people would react to a close friend or family member suddenly insisting a wild story that could not be proven. How would you react to the situation? How much could you take before you question what you believe, or lose the friend?"

Submission + - Profiteer or Preacher?

mlawrence writes: "Noah's Ark has been rebuilt but this time could it be good business? Johan Huibers (a contractor by trade) and his wife have built a 1:5 scale model of the ark. Recent upgrades have given it a petting zoo, science exhibit, theater and art showcase. Johan wants us to believe it is because of rising waters due to global warming, but could this be taking financial advantage of a gullable and scared populace? No word yet on the entrance fee...

The thing I find the most interesting about this article: "Noah kept seven pairs of most domesticated animals and one breeding pair of all other creatures, plus his wife, three sons and three daughters-in-law together on the boat." 7 pairs of domesticated animals but only 3 pairs of humans?
