Perhaps. Bit it will hihligjt once and for all humans are not just evolving DNA but the twin streams of data: DNA and memes. For millenia, anti-gay memes kept gays breeding in families, preserving whatever, if it's there, of DNA gay-related. Now that meme pressure is gone. It will take centuries if not more to see if gayness evolves away now. It's all pointless really, as humans will control their DNA by computer analysis, probably within the lifespan of some currently alive.

What if gayness is like sickle cell anemia, though? 1 copy gives you an immunity to malaria, 2 copies gives you a problem.

Maybe the "gay gene" if you get 1 copy you're a smooth lady killer (thus you CAN breed) and with 2 copies you like to sit on pole instead?
Now I realize that current research suggests that homosexuality is EPI-genetic, but I'm just throwing that out there.

We could watch Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares and come to the conclusion that it's impossible to make money running restaurants. And indeed it's not easy. Yet there are many successful restaurants as well as many failures. The failure is always in the specifics of a particular restaurant, not the concept of restaurants.

This analogy would ALMOST work except for there aren't 42 italian restaurants lined up, side by side, doing the same thing, all for $.99 with the only visible difference being olive garden vs olive g4rden. There is so much garbage in the app store, the market research is almost impossible...and if you even DO the research, someone is going to essentially cold-spike your app, and charge less for it 10 seconds after it's released. Try that with a burger king...

I would assert precisely the opposite. "trade-offs to preserve compatibility and interoperability" do not cripple the functionality to users-- failures to engineer compatibility and interoperability is what cripples functionality. The number of times that there's been a new feature and I've said "oh, excellent, it's true that my old files no longer work, but this is so wonderful I don't care" has been very close to zero. The number of times there's been a new feature and I've said "those assholes, I have twenty thousand files that don't work any more, what in the world were those idiots thinking?" is decidedly not zero.

And this is why there are so many programming languages with massive overlap in usage. Because once you start down a path, you can never, ever, everver change. If you want something that 42 years down the road that breaks with convention, go create a new language.

One main folder, then one for editors, one for astrophoto conditions and apps, one for auroral conditions and apps, one for IR work, one for special effects, etc., one for a DB of my lenses and cameras, one with my portfolio, one with links to photography websites, etc.
