Everything they aren't legally obliged to give you costs extra and the whole experience is designed to push you towards paying more than the headline ticket price.

That's because that's where they make their profit. They make very little on the price of the ticket itself.

Guess this was an article released directly from one of the agencies involved then. They're just laying the foundations of the argument as to why they should have back door access to everyone's end to end encrypted communications.

I'm just waiting for the "why won't someone think of the children" to be rolled out.

I detest the recent MacBook keyboards. I've gone back to my 2013 MBP after having the keyboard fail on my newer one, oh and then the screen went too. Oh and it also had the issue with the newer keyboard style marking the screen, but that's another story.

Anyway, the travel on the newer keyboards is horrible. Some things need feedback, key presses on a laptop is just one of them.

I've already decided that I won't buy another Mac unless they get rid of the butterfly crap and if this news is anything to go by, then they can say goodbye to a 10 year+ customer of their laptops.

Whilst good intentioned, I'm not sure they always think about what sort of effect this sort of tech could possibly have on society (sounds dramatic eh?), even if this is a natural path for it to take. I can easily see this pushing nation states further down the MITM road of mandated locally installed https certs etc.

Yes I know some have already started doing this, I just think this sort of tech could speed up the adoption of such techniques.

It might help if they allowed easy custom configuration so that you could choose who your upstream DNS handler was (e.g. a pihole running locally etc), but given Google's business model and track record, I wouldn't be surprised if they dictate it should all goto their servers.
