when i was employing people (some 10>15 years ago), the main criteria was experience, references, and finally a degree. most employers DON'T want to spend time / money training you or updating your theoretical degree learning to real world practicality.
a good reference from a reputable employer is worth a great deal more than a 'general' degree - especially so in 'niche' it....
