Might I suggest looking into Rotary International.

Rotary brings together business professionals from throughout your community and we unite together to share our talents in helping both our local community and the world. Odds are your community has a local club, and you could work with like-minded business professionals to fill your philanthropic desires.

I myself am a computer technician, and I have worked with our local club and a club in Pignon, Haiti, to provide computers in their local schools for administrative and teaching staff. We have worked with a club in Rajkot, India, to build a dam and provide clean water for thousands of people.

Many districts also partake in a program called the group study exchange. A group of 8-10 local professionals travel to another community somewhere in the world to learn and work with similar professionals in other parts of the world. What do network technicians do in Brazil, or Japan, or Germany? Contact your local district to see if they are offering a Group Study Exchange to any of these countries and work with professionals in those countries.

You can click on the club locator on the top of the Rotary International website to find a club near you. There are also a plethora of matching grants available worldwide, and I'm sure you could find multiple ones that are related to your interests.

The bulk of the 2016 bug was due to a miscode in a library of microsoft software, that was used by various systems, notably Windows Mobile 5.1+, EFTPOS systems in Austrailia, etc. Bugs exist in all aspects of code, and even standard library functions. The problem is when the bug is in the library, it has widespread effects around the world. The benefit is that a single fix can be coded, and then rolled out to everyone using that library.

Isn't the purpose of a School to TEACH???

When it comes to monitoring heart rates in Gym Class, there are two ways to go about this
1) Teach them to take their own pulse, and they can learn a valuable skill to be used anytime
or
2) Use Heart Rate Monitors, therefore teaching the students to be peons to the capitalistic sale of gadgets that are only useful when they are present and work

I love gadgets as much as the next geek here on slashdot, but come on... without basic knowledge, how will the next generation be able to function without these tools.
.... this is as bad as the match classes that now teach use of a calculator, as opposed to teaching MATH

Unworking.... AKA Management

There is virtually no safety concern with the gift alone. I was given a 12 gauge shotgun for my 10th birthday... yeah it was overkill for a 10 year old, but what I wasn't given was ammunition. That came and left with the adult supervision.

I have dollar coins, and I use them almost daily. Our work vending machines accept them, and the change machine only spits out dollars, no quarters used here. (and I'm in Minnesota)

It's always fun when you hand one to a Kid at McD. and has no idea what to do with it :)

Chip Maker - Americhip (the first 5 seconds is an promo for the chip maker)
Depth - the chip itself is 1/4 inch thick, not exactly paper thin.
