Comment What ad really need (Score 4, Insightful) 300

I usually use a site as a landing page and reflexively go to my intended site (email, calendar, etc) from there, or I'm on some other site with links out. Sometimes, as soon as I click a link to where I want to go, I notice an ad on the originating page for something I actually might be interested in. But when I go back to that page, I rarely can get a repeat performance of the original ad; surprisingly I seem to get a cycle of the about a half dozen others, but rarely including the first. There should be some way to force an affinity between ads and the back button. After all, I'm not likely to bounce on the refresh button just to see what different ads come up, but it is possible that I might use the back button to get back to something I was interested in.

Comment Welcome to the Real World (Score 1) 720

I started a more detailed post, but, why bother? In the end, people are always going to protest budget cuts that affect the things THEY want, when other things could easily be cut (which are supported by other people who think YOUR causes should have funds cut). Everybody needs to just accept that you can't pay (insert your last year's federal income tax bill) and expect (insert your last year's federal income tax bill X 2) in return, because it just doesn't work that way. So,
  1. accept it painfully as downgrading the life you imagined you should be/deserved to be living and continue to complain, or
  2. accept it as reality and think about what you can do to make it better (i.e.: in the long run my cause would be better served if they attacked the cause instead of the symptoms).

Amen to that. I don't print color frequently, maybe 1-2 color pages per month. By the 3rd or 4th month, one color (C,M or Y) of the cartridge would be dried and cleaning wouldn't help, so new color ink cartridge and a trip to Walmart before I could print what I needed. My cost per color page on inkjet: approaching $5. Color laser is a little less in photo quality, but passable. I paid about $180 for the color laserjet over a year ago and am still on the 1/2 full starter toner cartridges.

Same here. I',m not an anti-Apple-fanboy but I won't be writing Phone apps because I don't want to be forced to buy a *Mac to do so. My Nexus One sync'ed with my existing Google accounts with no problems, the apps I have downloaded work as expected. I do have an iPod Touch and the only thing I miss is the pinch on the web browser, but I'll probably download Dolphin tomorrow and see if that fills that small void. But you are 100% correct. People are quick to complain about any problem they have. Pitifully few are as quick to submit praise when things go smoothly. Granted, it isn't unrealistic to expect most bugs to have been worked out, but still...
