The UI used to be so clean and lightweight and efficient and ergonomic. I miss old Gmail. Still convenient but worse than it was.
I got my account when it was still invite only. It's hard to explain how vastly superior it was to any webmail that preceded it. It really was mind-blowing.
I haven't watched the series yet but the books really blew me away, highly recommended for any sci-fi reader. It has some really epic ideas. I still think about those often, years after reading them.
Well good thing that this technology will somehow never improve any further, glad all of our jobs are safe
And when the AI does a better job than any human ever could, who do we complain to?
Three adversary you describe is one we could in one way or another outsmart. Destroy it, unplug it, fight a war against its kill it's - that's all fine if we're smarter than it is. If it's much smarter than we are, it's kind of like a chess amateur thinking he'll outwit stockfish with his good old human ingenuity.
Isn't that what you do too?
That's what a transformer is (although it's obviously a very dismissive way to describe something much more clever than a conditional jump). Then the transformer trains the LLM, but we have no idea how the LLM works or how to reliably make it do one thing but not another. The LLM part, the black box part, is the dangerous bit.
I have yet to see a plausible scenario where advanced AI leads to an "extinction level threat".
Agents of human level intelligence with the ability to improve themselves lead to an intelligence explosion, the resulting thing wants to continue existing and acquire resources because instrumental convergence, it has inscrutable goals because orthogonality thesis, these goals have no reason to involve human survival, it absent mindedly kills us all in the pursuit of is goals. Could you clarify which part is not plausible?
