On a serious note, I find it odd that JavaScript is not ranked higher, considering its extensive use in front-end web development. This might be due to different keywords and frameworks not being aggregated under the umbrella of JS. For instance, typescript gets transpiled to javascript and checkout the top change requests & bugs mentioned:

I don't think signal is a good solution for a business, but for personal use sure. I have never heard of Mattermost and am researching it now, thanks for the tip!

Sounds like you don't know much about the technology. Yes a simplistic view is it's fancy automation & pattern matching, but conveniently skipping over how that pattern matching is "learning".

As far as AI doing something useful, the first thing that comes to mind is AI being used in medicine to detect tumors from MRI scans, x-rays, etc. You could triage healthcare in an emergency zone much faster with the help of these tools.

Here's an example, using it as a noun: "We need to upgrade our compute resources to handle the increased demand from new users."

Has the word "compute" changed meaning? I'm probably just old, but I hear it thrown around a lot in ways I didn't 10-20 years ago.

I agree, I use AI for things other than coding too. It's a suped up version of grammarly for me, I'll throw a first draft of a presentation or whatever into chatGPT4 and ask it to "make it sound more professional" and see if I like any of the suggestions. I recently starting messing around with Claude and it's pretty good at analyzing an image. I asked uploaded my PDF resume and asked it to convert it to JSON and it worked perfectly.

I am testing out various AIs in different scenarios and it absolutely is time saving for me. It seems the more you know about the subject, the better it is. For example, a coworker was asking about a CI/CD pipeline specific question and it gave an answer that looked good at first, but was wrong. I told him the specifics of our architecture and he came back with a working solution, that we then tested together and it worked. To summarize, test the solution!

FYI - I lived mostly in central america the last 15 years and witnessed this firsthand.

I'm not going to address all your points - I agree with some. However, you might not be aware of the amount of "influence" China has increased in central america. For example, the 'nicaraguan canal', if it ever happens, would be a huge win for China. In Costa Rica, China bribed them with a new stadium to effectively cut ties with Taiwan and get fishing rights for their obsession with shark fins. Most of this stuff doesn't make mainstream news, and half the reason is the concept of 'freedom of press' is much more limited.
