Trump Accuses Google of Rigging Search Results To Favor 'Bad' News About Him (cnet.com) 1024

President Donald Trump says Google search results for "Trump News" show only negative coverage about him. From a report: The results present "only the viewing/reporting of Fake New (sic) Media," the president tweeted early Tuesday. He said it's a "very serious situation" that "will be addressed!" "In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out. Illegal? 96% of ... " he wrote in the first of two tweets at 5:24 a.m. ET. Update: White House probes Google after Trump accuses it of bias.

I do understand your points and why you feel the way you do. I do feel sorry that guns are your "normal". You will never know different and understandably so as it has been ingrained in your society for generations.

From a personal standpoint I am so happy I don't live in the US. There is a definite liberating sense of freedom and peace to live in a society where the thought of needing to lethally protect myself never crosses my mind (as practically no-one else has a gun).

I am from Australia and even our government sponsored ABC News run anti-Trump "opinion" and "analysis" articles daily on their news site http://www.abc.net.au/news/ and have done ever since he was elected. It is ridiculous and shows a complete bias on their part. I don't think there is any maliciousness involved, just a bunch of people involved in an echo chamber constantly reinforcing their group-think.

The ABC's Chris Uhlmann did the Trump G20 "tear down" a few months ago. He then toured the US blowing his own horn, and now works for a commercial TV network here in Aus. If that wasn't enough, the ABC had other "journalists" follow up with more front page "analysis" pieces touting how wonderfully insightful the tear-down was. http://www.abc.net.au/news/201...

The ABS website have even had a sections called "Trumps America" as a way of highlighting him since he took office.

The content has calmed down now since the USA amazingly didn't implode when he took office but look back and see the bias they have run against him since he became president. The language, the content, what news they have chosen to omit.

But hey, at least it gives content to second rate comedians:

I am hoping if/when I eventually get Oreo it will dramatically improve the upgrade times for future Android versions. I wonder if the upgrade path now will be to skip Nougat and go directly to Oreo.

I am not sure why you are getting downvoted.

I typically roll my eyes at USA and all the democracy hurf blurf. I totally expected the media to win this election for the Clintons as it has been so one-sided (even here in Australia). To an unbiased, critical thinker it is obvious and disappointing but I totally expected most "average" people to be "group thinkers" and be suckered in for it.

I watched your election day and was so proud for USA and democracy in general.

I think your post hits this point well and it does not deserve to be downvoted.

It was actually an extremely proud moment watching people voluntarily handing their guns in to their local police station for destruction. No questions were asked by the police about the legitimacy of the gun, they just said thankyou and went about destroying them.

There is no question that our community is safer as a result of this. We also have the mentality that guns are very out of place in general society and if you actually ever see one it is definitely an uncomfortable feeling that you have. I can't imagine what it must be like to just accept that guns are part of your every day life or how that affects your own insecurities.

SandmanWAIX writes: A 40 billion dollar treaty between Australia and East Timor is going to the courts in The Hague this week with East Timor accusing the Australian spy agency ASIS of spying during the negotiations.

A former spy has turned whistleblower in the case and subsequently had his passport cancelled and his lawyers office raided. The unnamed spy (former director of technical operations) decided to come forward as the then foreign minister overseeing the treaty is now an advisor to Woodside Petroleum, Australia's largest oil and gas company.

Australian Govt Holding Secretive Anti-Piracy Talks 218

daria42 writes "Looks like Australia's Government prefers to keep its ongoing anti-piracy discussions behind closed doors. It held an initial meeting in September last year to try to get the content and ISP industries to thrash out an agreement on how to handle Internet piracy. Consumer representative groups were explicitly blocked from attending the meeting, and attendees are not allowed to reveal what was discussed behind closed doors. Now a second meeting has been held, and again, no information has been revealed about what's being discussed. Quelle conspiracy?"

Submission + - Australian Federal Court Ruling Has Lobbyists Scrambling (abc.net.au) 1

SandmanWAIX writes: A recent Australian Federal Court ruling found in favour of major telco Optus and determined they are not in breach of copyright with their TV Now service. This service allows mobile phone customers to record/watch free-to-air tv calling in to question the value of exclusivity deals signed with other major carriers.

“Telstra has exclusive online broadcast rights for both the AFL and NRL, and its latest online deal with the AFL for the 2012-16 seasons cost the telco $153 million.”

"What's a matter for us is considering whether or not there needs to be changes to the copyright laws in view of these circumstances," Prime Minister Gillard said.

Is it something that our slashdot group could bring to their attention?
Is it a question of money as it would require lawyers to actually do some work before it would be investigated?

What would it actually take to make something happen?
