We use it for SAP HANA. They're the preferred distribution for SAP HANA in Azure. Kinda niche, sure, but if you're in that space, it's huge $$. I first used myself SUSE back in the 5.2 days when it was SuSE. Stuck with them as a desktop OS for a while, eventually moving to Ubuntu about 12 years ago.

I have a Precision Mobile 5510 that I bought about a year and a half ago that originally came with Windows on it (was an open box). They offered Ubuntu 16.04 as an option when bought new. I immediately wiped it and began using Ubuntu on it. I'm currently running 19.04 and hardware support (touchscreen, nvidia prime graphics, wireless, etc...) is flawless. Probably the only negative is the battery life. It is noticeably not as good as on Windows. I get firmware updates through apt from Dell, too.

Honestly, what's the point of this over the already free Ubuntu shell that you can get in the store? I use that every day on my work computer running Win10 and I have all the terminal goodness I need. I can grab almost anything I need via apt and can even run graphical programs if I kick off an xserver inside WIn10.

Apple has had its share of failures, reminds me of the Apple Lisa.

It's bemusing you had to go back 30 years to be reminded of an Apple failure. ;)

I dislike Apple (as a company) even more than Microsoft now, but your statement just underscores how successful Apple has been in the past decade. Microsoft? Not so much.

what about the Mac Cube?
