Comment Re:Wow. Way to deny human agency (Score 1) 192

Baltimore County in Maryland banned "single-use" plastic bags, but didn't ban thicker 4-mil "reusable" bags. I went to the Walmart in that county last week for the first time since the ban (I live elsewhere). The checkout wanted $0.05 per bag for "reusable". Hmm. OK, not bad.

I reuse the "single-use" bags as trash bags. I thought I better check to see what 4-gallon trash bags will cost when the ban spreads to the whole state. The cheapest off-brand bags Walmart sell are $0.06 each! They are super-thin like the "single-use". The national brands are over $0.10 each. So I'll just buy 100 of the 4-mil "reusable" bags at checkout for less money. And so most of the thicker "reusable" bags will end up being single-use due to government stupidity and the law of unintended consequences leading to more plastics, not less. Brilliant!

Not on the desktop site either. Weird. Wonder why the crypto bros deleted it?

On-topic: Without the context, the quote reads like it was meant sarcastically. To be fair, at least the Volt was fairly brilliant. I wish they had continued it. If not for WFH taking over, it was high on my list to replace my gen-1 Insight.

Not the OP, but I was curious and can provide sources.

I was can confirm that Dr. Epstein was a Hillary supporter and that his research shows Google can, and may have / may be surreptitiously manipulating search results to influence elections. The sources are all left-leaning.

Comment Dead Wrong (Score 1) 56

You think the job of government procurement is to procure a product or service for use by the government.

And you are dead wrong.

The purpose is to procure a metric ass-load of money for the constituency of the criminal class aka Congress.

If it comes in on-time and on-budget, Congress and the parasites they feed consider it a failure.
