Submission + - SPAM: Nerdcore is Dead (Long Live Nerdcore)

The Original High-C writes: Dear Commander Taco,

I hope you are well, as the world is increasingly 'mid', as the kids say. I am the guy whose story you published 17 years ago about a nerd rap compilation. We had a wild ride, as documented in this, um, documentary on Amazon Prime.

Long after anyone stopped caring, I finally released my first free-as-in-beer album. This song tells the story of the ultimate demise of the scene, and I felt it was a fitting bookend for our first chapter. Maybe 2.0 will be better? Thanks for all you did for us, if no one ever told you before.

Sincerely,

The Original High-C

Comment I thought it was just me? (Score 1) 310

I've tried the OTC nasal decongestants for a few years before giving up. I would just suffer without wasting my money. They never seemed to work for me. The neti pot worked better. I thought it was just me those pills didn't work for. Now science brings me comfort. A pox on the snake oil being sold!!

The behind the counter stuff works great but makes me feel 'speedy' and stimulated until it climaxes in a creepy anxious state. Feeling the effects of pseudoephedrine makes this chill person have extra compassion for people with anxiety. I never really understood it until using 'the good stuff'. Now I just suffer without it as well.

There is a high barrier of entry to become an ISP. Well regulated monopolies can serve the people as well as make money for the shareholders.

We could regulate that an ISP has to share their infrastructure to create competition in the marketplace, but you'd probably cry about that.

There probably isn't competing electric and water companies where you live. Perhaps it is best if we treat a pipeline of data like we treat pipelines of electrons and H20?

Comment Anyone seen "Chopping Mall"? (Score 1) 139

There was this boss 80s movie called Chopping Mall about mall security robots killing some teens that snuck into the mall at night to eat pizza and make love.

This story reminds me of that horror movie. Except the teenager part. And the killing part.

But totally the mall security robots part!
