Comment Hashicorp are bullies (Score 5, Interesting) 33

I caught wind of their bullying when I tried to help them fix an issue in Vault. They were actively discouraging contributions by claiming to have someone working on a small fix for three years in their internal issue tracking. Itâ(TM)s clear they are moving everything to a closed source model across the board. I don't know who wants closed source cloud tooling though

Methane is 100X more potent greenhouse gas, though. So, sure, it breaks down into CO2, but until then you get 100X heating and after you get 1X heating. So addressing methane sources is critical to slowing heating in the short term and is actually achievable, since methane is free to convert into CO2 as long as you collect it at the source.

Probably just Gauss's Law applied to optics, but since the mood is far from a point source the trivial understanding doesn't apply here. Moonlight power density is around 0.0034 Watts/m^2, so to get to the power required to start a fire you'd need to focus around 100m^2 of flat mirrors at the same spot. For parabolic mirrors I'm sure there are multiple reasons you'd need a relatively large mirror, including quantum effects, but it could be much smaller.

I think he means he's tired of being held responsible, when in reality 100 corporations are reasonable for over 70% of global emissions over time. A tactic those corporations have taken is to emphasize consumer responsibility, even supporting mass plastic recycling campaigns while producing more plastic than ever. Many campaigns serve the interests of various corporation's bottom line as well. For example, a light bulb that produces aesthetically similar light to an incandescent bulb will cost $50. If you don't wanna pay that price, you can have shitty light that shows every clogged pore.
