I am still amazed that people do not get it.

Bitcoin was meant to be money itself with no need to be converted to fiat. Basically crypto (in general) should be seen as trading cards.
A company dealing in crypto is not a bank and its not needed to hold your fiat. LoL. They spend it as soon as you buy their trading cards. They will buy them back⦠sure ⦠but its not an entitlement, its just an option.

I know there are some coins/cons that say they are 1:1 but they are not governed like banks. You are going to the pawn shop down the road and giving him your money hoping you can get it back. LoL.

Twitter Is Protecting Its Source Code From Disgruntled Employees, Reports Say (techcrunch.com) 273

An anonymous reader quotes a report from TechCrunch: Twitter locked down its source code to prevent unauthorized changes, sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. The reports say that this change was made to prevent employees from "going rogue" and sabotaging the platform after Elon Musk's $44 billion purchase of the company. Currently, a vice president must approve any changes. After the company announced it would accept Musk's offer to buy the publicly traded platform, it wasn't immediately clear to Twitter's 7,000 employees how their day-to-day would change. Even after a company all-hands, where CEO Parag Agrawal reassured the team that no layoffs were planned "at this time," employees were still left with questions about how they would fare in Musk's takeover. [...] For now, Musk's takeover bid for Twitter remains subject to shareholder and regulatory approval. But if it goes through as expected, we may witness major personnel shifts, resignations and more. A similar shake-up took place when Twitter was listed on the New York Stock Exchange for the first time. By the time the company went public, there were already 90 startups being built by former Twitter employees.

Russia Threatens Suspending Space Station Cooperation Over Sanctions (engadget.com) 95

"Russia's Roscosmos will stop working with NASA and other western space agencies on the International Space Station," reports Engadget: On early Saturday morning, Roscosmos director Dmitry Rogozin slammed international sanctions against Russia and said normal cooperation between the space agency and its western counterparts would only be possible after they were lifted.... Rogozin said Roscosmos would submit proposals on ending its work with NASA and other international space agencies to Russian authorities.

It's unclear how the decision would affect the space station. The ISS is not owned by any single country. The US, European Union, Russia, Canada and Japan operate the station through a cooperative agreement between the countries. Roscosmos, however, is critical to the ISS. The Russian Orbital Segment handles guidance control for the entire station....

The ISS isn't the first joint space program to see its future thrown into uncertainty due to rising tensions between the West and Russia. In March, Roscosmos said it would not ferry OneWeb's internet satellites to space until the UK government sold its stake in the company. That same month, the European Space Agency announced it was suspending its joint ExoMars mission with Roscosmos.

But in the middle of all this, "There are currently seven astronauts onboard the ISS — three Russian cosmonauts, three NASA astronauts and one German-born ESA astronaut, Matthias Maurer..." reports UPI: The three Russian cosmonauts are Sergey Korsakov, Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveev. It was not immediately clear how the suspension of cooperation would impact the cosmonauts at the ISS.

Artemyev has expressed support for Russia and its decision to invade Ukraine in a statement made last month after he boarded the space station in a yellow and blue uniform, the colors of the Ukrainian flag. "There is no need to look for secret signs and symbols in our uniform. Color is just color," he said. "Despite the fact that we are in space, we are together with our president and people!"

App stores (if you could call them that) prior to apple launching were 50/50 or even worse for app developers. When apple launched they were the most profitable for developers which got 70%.

With distribution costs of 15-20% on carrier billing costs there is very little to share between apple and the carrier (where non cc payment is concerned). Dropping below a certain threshold will result in losses and actually shutting down carrier billing as a payment method.

This is awesome that there is such good foundational work going on to solve some of these problems and make this safer.

Some people will say the AZ vac is not effective/just skip it, etc, but what happens in 20-50 years where there is a different problem. Or its be weaponised by a green peace nut? (If its not been weaponised by the red country already).
