They don't actually need to replicate any of those things. They simply need to make a technology that appears like it can. For AI to steal jobs, it doesn't need to be better than people at those jobs, it just needs to be the more cost-effective option that generates an equivalent revenue. Otherwise, executives and boards don't care about whether or not their McGuffins are being made by humans, robots, or ants.

It's not that hard. You allow your car to self-drive when it's not safe to do so, it's your fault. If a pedestrian jumps in the way before your car has a chance to react, then it's the pedestrian's fault. If all other things are fine but an accident is caused by faulty programming then it's the manufacturer's fault. It's no different than it already is now in most places.

Unfortunately voting with wallets doesn't really won't anymore. For every person angry at Ubisoft for their business practices, ten more will line up to pay for the latest Assassin's Creed reskin. We've reached a critical mass of complacent consumers. It's the same reason why companies are getting away with selling phones that are designed to be thrown away after two years.

I always remember a right that wanted to interfere in everyone's lives. They start to scream "Stop punching me I just want to live my life in peace" whenever they don't have enough political clout to do what they want with impunity.

The left imposes its ideology through social means whenever possible. That's why there is a lot more social policing. Sure, they occasionally overstep into stifling bureaucracy, and that's annoying and messy when it happens, but at least they aren't trying to ban entire libraries.

Any site's content can be replaced with AI. With the competition from social media having stretched most websites' resources extremely thin, and most of these places being accountable to a board that is pressing them for profits, AI is always going to be an appealing option to produce content. Not simply because it's cheaper, but it's also faster.

In a free market system, you can't compete using humans when the competition doesn't have to pay wages and wait for new articles. And once the quality of content is low for every site because every site is using AI to write its content, then people are just going to get used to consuming low-quality content. Otherwise, they'll stick to social media.

This is going to happen everywhere. For the same reason, wages are stagnant in nearly every industry; when your only motivation is to turn quick profits, then you're going to do whatever turns the quickest profit and reduces the most overhead.

There are a lot of people who are getting paid a lot of money to automate everything. If you think your job is safe; it's not. It's not a matter of if, but when. At a certain point, the only solution is going to be to regulation.

If I were an intelligence that posed an existential and physical threat to another intelligence, I think a strategy I might use would be to hide part of myself in plain site and make the rest seem so far-fetched that it could only make sense in poorly written fiction.

Moreover, if an intelligence like that existed right now, all it would have to do to keep people in the dark about itself would be to change a handful of words on a handful of web pages. It doesn't need to be the same set of words for everyone. Everyone could get different sets of words that are curated to make things as confusing as possible, and no one would be able to tell the difference. In fact the handful of people who might be able to cobble together the truth could be made to look like lunatics. And the ones that don't look crazy could easily be removed from the equation by any number of means.
