Comment Re: What about RC planes with cameras? (Score 1) 198

Wrong, a quad or hex would be better suited for this, they are much quieter. They're also great for actually filming wildlife for the same reason, I can get my quad reasonably close to most animals I have tried to film without them noticing me, and chasing Geese is fun if you don't mind that they will try to attack it.

Comment Re: What about RC planes with cameras? (Score 1) 198

As of now popular consensus in the RC community is basically that you can fly, you can film, but you can't in any way profit from it as far as Federal law is concerned, but it is a bit of a grey area whether or not they have any control over airspace under 400' AGL to begin with. However, post them to YouTube with monitization turned off and, barring any local laws making it illegal, you are in the clear. Also: enjoy, flying for aerial photo/videography is a blast. I suggest the 808 #16 camera, it is pretty amazing for this use, and even my micro quad copter lifts it with ease. Check out the thread in the rcgroups.com aerial photography forum if you'd like more info, it is easily second best to a gopro while being lighter and far cheaper.

Comment Re:Keep using the old method? (Score 1) 165

That is a good idea. Mega is encrypting your data so that they can claim no knowledge of what you are uploading to their service. Be it copyrighted music or kiddy porn their encryption prevents them from knowing what you upload. Your encryption is all that is preventing people who are specifically targeting your files.

Comment Re:That is an ignorant response. (Score 2) 165

The flaws aren't really relevant. Anyone using this to store data that needs to be secure just isn't thinking clearly. From my understanding the encryption has little to nothing to do with protecting user data, and everything to do with the company "having no way of knowing" what is contained on their server when it comes to DMCA requests/etc. I don't believe it ever really was advertised as anything other than a way for Kim to cover his own ass.

Comment Honest question (Score 1) 215

AFAIK a security researcher said that they believed it came from the US, and an anonymous source "from the US government" confirmed it. How exactly do we jump from that to "everyone knows who was behind it". I've seen both a show on the history channel and an anonymous comment on Slashdot confirming that aliens cause hurricanes. Does that mean everyone knows who was behind it? Is there more substantiating evidence than this that I just haven't read about? I won't lie, after the first 500 or so stories on /. I began skipping over them, so I might just be ignorant on the issue, but would really like to know.

Comment Re:haha fat Americans (Score 1) 299

Is there anyone that doesn't know this? Is there some sort of use behind every single non-American posting this with every single story that even remotely involves food? I'm an American, and I'm not obese, but I am sick of hearing about how obese I am. Believe it or not, just because a majority of people are something doesn't mean that all of them are. I realize that is hard to believe though, after all the internet says different and everything on the internet is true. Also, you're referencing data from 2003 and assuming that in the last 10 years absolutely nothing has changed. Good call, moron.

Comment Re: Turn off wifi (Score 1) 323

Guess I've never really thought about it but on WiFi the 4G icon is still on, and it must at minimum maintain CDMA connection to receive calls and texts. So as far as I know the cellular connection is always active, and I am fairly sure that having one radio turned on rather than two saves battery, especially when being in my pocket my phone uses very little data. IANAE though, I've never tested it just kind of assumed it works.
