Kudos for the explanation, this is why I still come to slashdot.

I haven't spent much time looking, so this was the best I could find:

Dell also said accuracy will depend on how far away the object is. From 3 feet to 15 feet, it’s about 98 percent accurate. And from 15 feet to 20 feet its 90 to 93 percent. Beyond 20 feet, it’s too far away to be accurate at all.

The product page doesn't really make this clear at all, the only distance it ever metions is up to 30M and that's in relation to changing the focus.

I'm surprised they made it such a big feature given how limited it is. Might as well just estimate the distances yourself.

If you watch the video review in the article, the gallery app has a measuring tool. The reviewer measures the height of the Golden Gate Bridge, oddly enough doesn't pick up on the fact that the app has claimed the bridge is 37ft tall.

According the google the bridge is 220ft. I'm not sure who should be more embarrassed Intel or the reviewer.

It boggles my mind, how this kind of inconsistency can be overlooked, in 8.1 the rest of the icons still show the windows 7 style overlays why is the networks any different..

Youtube has come a long way recently in terms of production value some channels host shows that even surpass TV shows in terms of quality such as VGHS https://www.youtube.com/show/v... or even full length movies such as Ashens and the Quest for the game child https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Users like TotalBiscuit regularly provide high quality coverage of video games, so depending on your interests, there are defiantly videos worth paying to watch, obviously depending on prices. It would have to be pretty low to be justifiable though, a TV licence in the UK is just over £12 a month which funds multiple add free channels with for the most part high quality content.

He wants the moon carved up and given to the wealthiest people to make them even wealthier, backed by the world military to make sure that the poor get nothing out of it. Ah, capitalism. How you solve all the world's problems.

Then all he has to do is go to a poor country, where he can buy it all up for next to nothing anyway as no one is going to turn down money for land on the moon if you can't afford to eat.

In the long term I think it will be worth it. Skype is a household name and is almost a verb for video chat now. Skype itself may not make $8.5 billion but the products receiving skype integration easily do and skype is a great feature for all those products which will help keep them competitive. Outlook plus skype would be a killer combination.

We already have glasses and hearing aides that don't make you look like a complete dork.

If you watch the video in the article you'll see that these devices are much more sophisticated than normal glasses and hearing aids.

The sight mask appears to allow you to see the trail of motion (allowing a football manager to see where his players have moved from) and the hearing mask allow you to focus on a specific sound (allow a child with ADHD to focus on useful sounds). Although these designs do look odd they are probably not the final designs and aren't supposed to worn all the time.

Should you not leave negative reviews on Amazon or Ebay?

Being able to tell the world about your experience with a company, is a good form of consumer protection, as it gives the company a good reason to make sure a customer leaves satisfied. If she'd positive tweet, this company may have received extra business so it can work both ways.
The real lesson here is for British politicians and courts to tidy up our messy libel system (assuming she is telling the truth) so companies using these tactics are out of pocket so they think twice about filing these kind of law suits.
