Part of the reason tuition has gone up is public funding for schools has plummeted. Where Iâ(TM)m at, tax dollars make up less than a quarter of funding. Donor money pays for those glamorous facilities. Tuition pays for everything that used to come from tax dollars. FTE is a huge cost. Health care being one of the biggest chunks. Public healthcare would do more to balance school budgets than almost any other single thing. Student loans suck, and forgiveness and/bankruptcy should definitely be a thing, but itâ(TM)s just hiding the actual sicknessâ¦

Adobe doesnâ(TM)t allow non-person accounts with their licensing. They donâ(TM)t want to let you make âoeuser1â account and have that on multiple machines. They do have SDL licensing, but that still requires a legit login. There is no true offline/device licensing anymore.

Adobe being on this list does not surprise me. They tried to argue FERPA didnâ(TM)t to college students using the software because once they left University they werenâ(TM)t students. So all their identity and data was free game at that point. Itâ(TM)s really a shame there is no solid competition against them. Theyâ(TM)re the absolute worst and yet there is zero pressure for them to get better (or anyone to come along and steal their market share).

If itâ(TM)s life critical, more than one. Personally, life critical stuff gets put on a home Synology, backed up to Backblaze B2 (From Synology) and mirrored (with Resilio) to my office and then separately encrypted and copied up to Dropbox (with Hyper Backup). So at any given time, Iâ(TM)ve got like 3-4 copies of data. Computer catches fire/stolen. Iâ(TM)m good. House burns down. Iâ(TM)m good. Earthquake takes out PNW, still good. Less critical stuff, I just mirror off site. Sure, would suck to lose part/all of my plex library, but it wonâ(TM)t kill me.

Would just like to say this is a good example of why non-SI units suck. "cups of coffee". Are we talking the 8oz cup, or are we talking "vessels of coffee"? My 16oz mug is a "cup" but it's also 2 "cups". More annoyingly, wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cup_(unit)#Customary_cup) states that a "cup of coffee" is defined as just over 5oz in the US.
