    Simplify team communication and collaboration.

    Date: Apr 23 2023

Summary: Slack has become an indispensable tool in many workplaces today due to its numerous benefits. Its simplicity and intuitive interface make it easy for teams to navigate and use. It enables users to create channels for different topics or projects, invite members, send messages, share files, and more with just a few clicks. With Slack, you can integrate with many other apps and tools, such as Google Drive, Trello, Asana, Zoom, and more. This makes it easy to access and share information from different sources without leaving Slack. You can also use bots and apps to automate tasks, get notifications, or add fun elements to your conversations.

Slack is also great for keeping a searchable record of all your conversations and files, so you can easily find what you need or refer back to previous discussions. With threads, you can organize and follow up on specific messages without cluttering the main channel. This feature enables teams to stay on top of their work and ensures that important messages or tasks are not missed.

While Slack has some drawbacks, such as being costly for larger teams or organizations that need more features or integrations, it remains a reliable and user-friendly communication tool. Setting up notifications and channels may be confusing at first, but once you figure it out, it becomes easy to manage. Slack's file preview and storage capabilities may be limited, but it still allows for seamless collaboration with other tools and apps.

Slack is an excellent communication and collaboration tool for teams of all sizes. It offers an array of features that simplify communication and project management. Slack's user-friendly interface and mobile app make it convenient to use, and its integrations with other tools and apps make it versatile. While it may have some drawbacks, the benefits of using Slack within a work environment far outweigh any limitations it may have. Overall, I would highly recommend Slack to any team looking to streamline their communication and collaboration.

Positive: Slack is a comprehensive platform that offers a plethora of benefits for businesses of all sizes. With its simple and intuitive interface, Slack makes it easy for users to navigate and use the platform. Whether you're a seasoned user or just getting started, the platform's user-friendly design ensures that you can get the most out of the platform with minimal effort.

One of the most significant benefits of Slack is the ability to create channels for different topics or projects. With the click of a button, users can create dedicated channels for specific discussions, ensuring that conversations are organized and easy to follow. Additionally, Slack allows users to invite members, send messages, and share files, making it easy to collaborate and share information with team members.

Another advantage of Slack is its ability to integrate with a variety of other apps and tools. By integrating with popular tools such as Google Drive, Trello, Asana, and Zoom, users can access and share information from different sources without leaving the platform. Additionally, Slack offers bots and apps that automate tasks, get notifications, or add fun elements to your conversations, making the platform a one-stop-shop for all your business needs.

Slack's real-time messaging and calling features enable users to communicate with team members quickly and efficiently. With huddles, users can have spontaneous audio or video chats with colleagues without scheduling a meeting, making it easy to collaborate in real-time. During calls or huddles, users can also share their screen or co-edit documents, making it easy to collaborate on projects even when working remotely.

One of the most significant advantages of Slack is its searchable record of all conversations and files. The platform keeps a record of all conversations and files, making it easy to find what you need or refer back to previous discussions. Additionally, Slack offers threads, enabling users to organize and follow up on specific messages without cluttering the main channel.

Slack's mobile app allows users to stay connected and productive on the go. With access to all channels, messages, files, and integrations from your phone or tablet, you can stay up to date with all your business needs no matter where you are. Additionally, users can customize their notifications and preferences to suit their needs, ensuring that they stay productive and focused on the tasks at hand.

Negative: While Slack is a powerful platform that offers a wide range of benefits for businesses, it also has some disadvantages that users should be aware of before deciding to use it. Some of the most significant disadvantages of Slack include its cost, potential for overwhelming notifications, limited file preview and storage capabilities, and less robust video and audio conferencing features.

One of the most significant downsides of Slack is its cost. While the free plan is sufficient for many small teams, larger organizations with more complex needs may find the free plan's limitations in terms of storage space, number of integrations, message history, and video call duration to be restrictive. The paid plans can range from $6.67 to $12.50 per active user per month (billed annually), depending on the features you need, making it expensive for larger teams or organizations.

Additionally, Slack can be overwhelming for users who are not familiar with how to manage their notifications or channels. Users may receive too many messages or alerts that distract them from their work or cause information overload. Finding the right channel or message among the many options available can also be challenging, making it harder to stay organized and efficient.

Slack's file preview and storage capabilities are also limited, particularly for larger files or attachments. Users may need to store their files elsewhere or use external tools to view them properly. For example, Excel files may not display well in Slack's preview mode, making it difficult to work with spreadsheets within the platform.

Slack's video and audio conferencing features are not as robust or reliable as some of its competitors. Users may experience lagging, freezing, or poor quality during calls or huddles. Additionally, users may not be able to record meetings or have transcripts of their conversations, making it difficult to refer back to important information discussed during the call.

While Slack is a powerful platform that offers many benefits for businesses, it is not without its drawbacks. The platform's cost, potential for overwhelming notifications, limited file preview and storage capabilities, and less robust video and audio conferencing features are all significant factors to consider when deciding whether to use Slack for your team's collaboration needs. However, for many teams, the benefits of Slack will likely outweigh these disadvantages, making it a valuable tool for efficient and effective collaboration.

    Perfect for communication between teams!

    Date: Mar 01 2023

Summary: I maintain daily communication with different work teams for different projects, so Slack gives me not just one but several workspaces where I can focus on different conversations to prioritize the most important ones without losing the thread in so many conversations that I have around. daily of the multiple channels where I am involved. The communication optimization that has been achieved through the use of Slack has been incredible, so everything is more structured in a better way so that you don't mix topics of conversation or different projects where several people are included and mixed with another, for so team members will communicate more quickly, saving time in daily updates within a chat.

The ability that Slack has to integrate with many platforms has been able to improve the workflow by not depending on having multiple tabs in my browser from the different platforms that I use, when it comes to communication Slack is essential for me. But I don't want to get out of this if I need to combine another application, so the integrations help me to have everything focused without having so many applications open, but simply everything is there and in case I need more advanced functions of the integrated application I only have I have to head over to it and get back into Slack.

I handle the projects that I am involved with this platform very well, so the organization of the conversations has been very helpful and even more so when I can easily search for information through the tags, so I don't lose the thread of past conversations or their respective files. It doesn't matter if a channel's team is very large, there is always a way to find specific information, and this is very essential when managing a large team. Another thing that cannot be missing is that many of the people in my work team are very familiar with remote work, so they can easily communicate within this platform, being able to send messages, emails and files without having to go to another platform since everything can be done through the respective integrations.

Positive: It has a large directory of applications that can be integrated with Slack, so it solves many problems, being the main problem of any platform and that of being able to share information between platforms. A favorite integration of many that I currently have is being able to connect to the Office 365 suite through Slack. With this I can create events and save them in the Outlook calendar without leaving Slack, allowing a better flow since I don't have to go between tabs to be able to schedule any activity that I have to do in a day. Other functions that the integration with Office 365 has allowed me is to be able to send emails through this platform, so with this I can send emails to a work team within a Slack chat without leaving it, so I also save time by not having to create mailing lists, but rather I share it directly with the participants of a channel. Last but not least is the implementation of the office packages for the preview of the documents, be it a .docx or a spreadsheet, with the integration of Office 365 I can have a preview of the documents within Slack allowing me easier to take a quick look at any document that is sent to me.

Scheduled messages helped me not to have to send messages at times when I'm busy, so if I have to send a message or make a reminder, I simply have time to prepare the message and then I select when and at what time I want said message to be sent, that's all. There is no need for overwhelming configurations, but simply in a few steps anyone can schedule a message, whether they are the owner of a channel or not, so any user can anticipate an important message in advance, making communication through this platform much more efficient and simpler.

Negative: From the time that I have been using Slack, I have not found significant problems that prevent the correct functioning of this platform or that it does not meet its objectives, so I will outline the few disadvantages that there are when using this platform for collaborative communication for teams. of work:

It would not be bad to have notifications more organized and more when it comes to being the multiple channels within a company. It can become overwhelming so all the notifications from all the chats or channels where I am are mixed up, so a good solution would be to be able to receive notifications separately or in sections, where each channel has its notification instead of everything being lump it into one list. This would avoid distractions and not have so many overwhelming notifications that it prevents a cleaner workflow, which is useful for people like me who are on different channels with a large number of members.

The integration with Giphy does not work entirely correctly, this being a problem when I want to add gifs more easily within a chat, I use this integration to be able to add gifs by writing without having to search for gifs within other pages and add them manually, so it was easier for me to use this integration. But from one moment to now it has started to fail, staying blank when I am searching for a gif or simply not appearing in the gif sent within the chat, so it becomes a bit frustrating having to search for a gif with the traditional methods by doing that the flow of a conversation slows down for me.

Probably the more I use it, I will find faults with this platform, otherwise everything has worked with respect to the use I have been giving it. Even for me the desktop application has seemed more stable than using it in the browser since in case of using Slack with the desktop application I only have to wait for the chats to load and on the web, I have to wait for all the information to load. platform to use.

It is an incredible tool that allows for clearer communication.

    Date: Jan 24 2023

Summary: Slack has given me the tools to be able to maintain effective communication between the members of my team, thus being able to have a better efficiency within my work and also save time when it comes to communicating something to a person or a group that works team up. It was simple and intuitive to be able to integrate my entire work team to this platform and to be able to invite them to the different channels created. It was also easy to include third parties as clients in order to maintain closer communication and to better understand what they need. . So for the integration part of Slack within the company, it has brought benefits starting with the ease of use and implementation.

This platform facilitates the documentation of the topics of conversation that occur within various work teams which I am currently in, it was easy to manage within the different channels and it was also easy to search for topics by tags, allowing a quick search for a conversation when there are many conversations in different chats. Currently, all the members of my company are concentrated within Slack due to the ease of being able to use and master the tools that this platform offers, likewise, all the departments are interconnected with each other to pass information more easily and not have to resort to other means. of instant communication.

    General

Slack has given me the tools to be able to maintain effective communication between the members of my team, thus being able to have a better efficiency within my work and also save time when it comes to communicating something to a person or a group that works team up. It was simple and intuitive to be able to integrate my entire work team to this platform and to be able to invite them to the different channels created. It was also easy to include third parties as clients in order to maintain closer communication and to better understand what they need. So, for the integration part of Slack within the company, it has brought benefits starting with the ease of use and implementation.

This platform facilitates the documentation of the topics of conversation that occur within various work teams which I am currently in, it was easy to manage within the different channels and it was also easy to search for topics by tags, allowing a quick search for a conversation when there are many conversations in different chats. Currently, all the members of my company are concentrated within Slack due to the ease of being able to use and master the tools that this platform offers, likewise, all the departments are interconnected with each other to pass information more easily and not have to resort to other communication platforms (instant chat).

Positive: * The best thing about Slack is that it has adapted very well to voice or live video communication, this allowed more flexibility for people who want to communicate something directly without having to type all the time. From all the time that I have used this platform, I can say that it is a great help and it is very practical to be able to have quick communication such as video calls, so the implementation of Huddle in Slack allowed my work team to communicate more easily time to want to share important information and make the points clear, which through writing can be confusing at times and the information may not be transmitted by both parties, so having this tool is very useful in the long term for effective communication.

    * The night mode was a relief for me for those moments in which I needed to maintain communication at certain hours of the night for my work. I really liked that they thought of the end user since when you have a hard job sometimes you have to stay up late doing work within a company and your eyesight can be affected, however, this platform adopted the night mode very well that allows chatting without spending so much the view works better on OLED screens since since each pixel works independently, the black is purer so it will not emit light but only in the colored or white areas. Therefore Slack works very well in night mode on these types of screens.

    * There is no problem with uploading files in Slack chats, it supports a large upload of large files and besides that if you have a good bandwidth this platform will not have problems or limits when uploading a file, so large project files can be easily uploaded. Although they can also be integrated with cloud storage platforms that will make it easy to immediately share files with others without having to re-upload the files, thus everything would be more automated.

Negative: * For those who plan to use Slack for free, I personally would not recommend it since it has a limit on all chats for a period of 90 days. This is detrimental for any company since it is important to have a complete history of the conversations without the need to make manual backups. Also, if you have a project that lasts more than 3 months and you want to look for the first conversations to clarify doubts, this could not be possible, unless, as I mentioned before, copies of the conversations are made, however, it would be tedious. do this since when consulting a conversation after 90 days it will be difficult to search for something within a copy of the chat since it will not be intuitive how to do it within Slack. For the rest, I don't see a problem using this platform for free if you only need to use basic functions that do not depend on paid features, it is very useful when you want to learn how to use this platform and also test features before purchasing the Slack services definitely.

    * It is disappointing to have to compulsorily purchase the Enterprise Grid plan in order to have unlimited workspaces, it could be more flexible if, depending on the plan, a limited number of more than 1 workspaces could be added. This may seem like it's not useful but it is useful to keep all the conversations organized and not have a lot of accumulated chats, so it would be nice if the Pro and Business+ plans have at least 2 workspaces to make sense on the scalability of each plan since it would not be convenient to have the Enterprise Grid plan if you will not use all the functions that Slack presents. Otherwise I have no problems with the different features offered by the different plans of this platform.

    * I would like Slack updates to be automatic regardless of the device, I say this because when they add a certain feature and not all the people in my work team constantly update their applications and when I use a new feature to explain something not all they will be able to see it, this causes you to have to wait or notify everyone to update Slack or just use the web version in order to use those new features without downloading anything. With Huddle it was the most recent experience I had with this problem, since the ability to draw while making a video call had been added and not everyone saw what I was annotating on the screen due to the simple fact of not having an update . At least that Slack itself be notified that there are new updates and that not only the AppStore or Google Play do it, since there are people who disable automatic updates.

    Slack Review

    Date: Sep 29 2022

Summary: Slack is great, we've used / use both Slack and Teams and I do think they serve two very different markets and purposes.
As an early stage, startup I would recommend using Slack and as you scale and perhaps go enterprise I would recommend using Teams.

Positive: Excellent UI, Ease of use is great, minimum setup hassle and simply a great platform for communicating and working with team members

Negative: It can get expensive really fast, not really a good platform to do community stuff with as those run up to hundreds and thousands for each user.
It is also worth nothing that Slack does have a free plan that has I believe unlimited users, issue is that there's a time limit with how far you can go back with messages.

    Unified communication

    Date: Sep 27 2022

Summary: Slack is our main source of communication and has been for a couple of years, but before that, we used to simply use our emails as a way to communicate and send files to each other whenever needed, which was a lot of times during the day. When we started using Slack, we were finally able to have a cloud based system where we all communicate with each other about important areas of our work, and send files without issues; with Slack, we do not have issues regarding missing deadlines, forgotten reminders and lost emails, we simply have everything inside of Slack and organized in channels, which honestly, has been the secret key behind our increase in productivity because we have everything in on single space, we are able to have more flexibility over our channels and have more control of our teams by setting daily reminders of important tasks, and not only that, but the integrations have helped us set up automatic tasks that are completed throughout the day and keep us all informed about our areas of work, Slack has unified all our communication into one and it makes it easy to talk to different team members.

Positive: Slack is an innovative way to organize communication inside a business, it is smart enough and the creation of channels make the process of communicating more neat, it helps differentiate between tasks and projects, and I like that it becomes really easy to talk about different projects and send a message to a channel instead of sending an email for a reminder. Inside Slack there are many tools that enhance collaboration and provide the right features that help organize all the messages, there are many formatting options for the type of message being sent and it is easy to start video calls or normal calls with just a button, it is a space where everyone is able to join and communicate with others inside the organization and have a more productive approach to projects. Also, I like the amount of integrations that work with Slack, many of which we also use and integrate for more automation and collaboration in our every day routines and to find things easier because they are inside Slack, I also like that it keeps everything stored and it does not get deleted, we can access chat history any time we want and it will be there, and it has a high security that ensures that all our conversations stay private.

Negative: I do not have any complaints towards Slack, however I think that being a software that groups large amounts of conversations and channels on a single platform, there needs to be some kind of organization around it in order to find things, especially the threads, which we use to organize ideas everytime we discuss something about a project; these need to be organized in a way that will be able to access easier in a later time when they are needed, Slack is a platform that needs to be constantly “cleaned”, otherwise everything will look to crowded and it will be difficult to access key information about certain things in specific.
