Gated 3.5.10 on Libc5 1

BoredSpy asks "I'm having an extremely difficult time attempting to build gated 3.5.10 on a Red Hat 4.2 box. Does anyone know if it will even build, or what the process is? Does it require glibc, etc? Any pointers to information or documentation on gated compilation under Linux (especially libc5) would be appreciated. "

Gated 3.5.10 on Libc5

  • I did not realize that building gated on Linux will be difficult, because, my first attempt with gated 3.5.5 and Slackware (libc5) went very smoothly. I was surprised when later I try to recompile gated 3.5.5 on Debian 2.0 or Debian 2.1 (both are libc6). Both attempt failed. Then I did a quick hack on a header file, and the compilation went smoothly. Later I tried gated 3.5.11 which has been fixed for smoother compilation under Debian.
I never used RedHat before, but I believe that your problem could be fixed easily if you could supply us with more detail on error messages.
    Happy tweaking.
