Calculator Emulators for PocketPC?

Yoweigh asks: "Are there any advanced calculator programs out there for PocketPC handheld devices? Specifically, any TI emulators available or under development? I've seen quite a few emulators for desktop PCs under several OSes (including Linux), but none for handhelds. PalmOS has EasyCalc [sourceforge.net]. i am sure there's something like it for pocketPC, but since the software is harder to write, and get a license for, good luck. maybe someone will port it.

Hrm, not sure I agree with that. It's basically a modified Visual C++ or Visual Basic (*puke*) on Pocket PC. The development software is only about $15 from MS as well (this is something they did right, for a change). You can even download it, but I couldn't be bothered taking 3 days to download it on my 56k Modem and tying up my phone line. Porting other software to it could be a hassle, but porting is always an issue.

I'm not aware of any 'license' restrictions on distributing software from the Embedded toolkit; if there is something which limits distributing software made with it, let me know...

Emu48CE [conduits.com], an HP48 emulator.

RPN Calc [home.dsl.ca]. Very nice and supports RPN like all good calculators should. No graphing capability.

Maxima [rainer-keuchel.de]. Looks interesting, port of a GPL symbolic manipulation program. (This guy has emacs, gluplot, and other stuff running under CE as well.)

There's a lot more stuff out there if you search, but no real killer calculator yet that I can see.

Yum! I love my old HP. Once you go RPN you never go back :)

I'd argue that if you're going to use the calculator a lot it might be worth getting a seperate machine (although a pain in the ass to carry around two things) simply because of ware and tear. The HPs are TANKS. I've given mine a crap load of abuse over the last ten years, and it keeps on ticking.

Flash Enabled [flashenabled.com] has a link to a great macromedia Flash HP calculator app that looks and acts exactly like an HP. You'll need to download flash for the Pocket PC here. [macromedia.com]
