You can not look purely at income without looking at the cost of living. If income goes up by 5% but the cost of living has gone up by 20%, sure, people are earning more money, but effectively are less wealthy. No numbers are required to understand that concept, and for those who live in places with a higher population density, that trend of "wage increases go up MUCH more slowly than the cost of living increases".

That is why people say the economy is doing poorly right now, because the cost of living really has gone up by over 7%, but wages have gone up by what, 3% in the past year? Pay attention to the NET income, not gross, and you would see that the vast majority of people have had our net income go down.

One thing to remember is the idea of self correction. Now, if they would do something, like building desalinization plants and then pump the water around the country to places that need it, we could actually even reclaim the desert over time if done the right way. The problem is that we have very short-sighted politicians who only think in terms of 1-6 years, instead of thinking 20+ years out. It's like all the idiot executives out there that will go out of their way to save $0.10 cents per hour per employee, not realizing that it will cost the company $1000 extra per year per employee from the side effects. When short term profits are more important than long profits, that is when you know the company is going to crash as soon as a decent competitor shows up.

I support the police(generally), because the police in most places are not above the law themselves, and if a police officer deprives others of their rights, they will potentially lose their job. ICE isn't held to the standards of the police though, and as a result, needs to be shut down until the fascists currently in control in Washington are out of power and tried for their violations of the US Constitution and protecting criminals.
