myShipTracking Description
Automatic Identification System (AIS), an automatic tracking system that ships use to identify and locate vessels in order to avoid collisions, is used on ships. AIS is also used by port authorities to improve control of sea traffic. Each vessel broadcasts its AIS messages via VHF channels (161.975 MHz and 160.225 MHz), using a transceiver that is connected to a positioning system, such as a GPS. Special software is used to process the signal from nearby vessels. myShipTracking uses this technology to better understand how ships move around the globe. Website content and features are created based on your suggestions and requests. Send us your ideas and we will make it a reality! Our Live Map uses cutting-edge technologies to provide real time vessel positions with a minimum of 10 seconds delay. Our system requires that the current area be covered by our system in order to view vessels in real time.
