Great API for Our Small Sports Site

    Edited: May 02 2026

Summary: For teams that prioritize football and basketball data, iSports API is a dependable and affordable option that gets the job done. It has been a reliable part of our tech stack through multiple product updates and traffic spikes. For startups or smaller platforms looking for quality sports data without enterprise-level pricing, it is absolutely worth trying.

Positive: iSports API has been a solid backbone for our football data service since we started using it two years ago. We run a small sports news site and needed an API that could deliver live scores without breaking the budget. The data coverage is impressive. It includes major leagues like the Premier League and Champions League but also obscure lower divisions that other providers often skip. We have never had a data outage during major events, and updates typically come through in under 10 seconds even when traffic spikes.

The API itself is straightforward to work with. The endpoints are logical, the JSON payloads are clean, and we got our first integration working the same day we signed up. Their documentation covered all the basics without making us dig through obscure forums. When we had a question about a specific data field, support replied within a day with an answer that actually addressed our technical concern.

Negative: Some league data varies by region and licensing, so availability can differ depending on your location. This is common in the sports data industry but something to keep in mind when planning your data coverage.

Fast, Stable & Transparent — My iSports API Experience

    Date: May 01 2026

Summary: Not flawless — a couple of small onboarding hiccups, mostly our own doing — but honestly, for a small team this has been one of our best early decisions. Live data is fast, uptime has been boringly solid, pricing is transparent. We get to focus on building instead of babysitting data.

The moment our staging dashboard lit up with live scores 30 seconds after hooking up the first endpoint was a quiet thrill. If you’re an indie dev or tiny startup working on football or basketball, and you don’t want the enterprise sales dance, I’d say give it a shot.

Positive: We’re a tiny three-person team building a football stats site. Tried a couple of other APIs first — data felt sluggish, or pricing stayed hidden behind a “book a call” wall. With iSports, things just worked right away.

Live scores are quick — like a few seconds behind — so it genuinely feels real-time to users. Even on big match days, the API held up without us needing any panicked late-night fixes. As the only backend dev, that’s a very big deal for me.

Football coverage is deep. Top leagues, obviously, but also a load of lower divisions we didn’t expect to find easily. Integration was straightforward: REST, clean JSON, decent docs. We had live data showing up in staging within an hour.

The 20-year historical database has been a quiet win too. We’re tinkering with some prediction ideas, and not having to scrape or clean that data ourselves saves months.

Support is responsive and actually helpful. And they keep adding useful things — xG, deeper player stats — without any hype.

Negative: The free trial is fine for testing, but live data has a ~2-minute delay and a daily call cap, so you can’t really demo real-time features on it. Paid plans remove the delay — just something to keep in mind.

We also bumped into a few per-endpoint rate limits early on (e.g. schedule/results locked to one call per 60 seconds). The docs do spell that out — we’d just skimmed straight past it in the chaos of getting started. Totally on us.

    Really outstanding product

    Edited: Apr 29 2026

Summary: iSports API is an outstanding product that delivers reliable, high-quality sports data at a fraction of enterprise provider costs. For any startup, media platform, or betting analytics service that needs deep football and basketball coverage with fast integration and transparent pricing, this API is a genuine game-changer. The combination of real-time accuracy, massive historical archives, and responsive engineering support makes it easy to recommend without hesitation. I highly recommend it.

Positive: iSports API is the most reliable and cost-effective sports data solution for any football or basketball-focused platform.
We have been using iSports API for over two years to power our live scores app and analytics dashboard. The coverage is exceptional — spanning 2,000+ football leagues and 800+ basketball leagues across 140+ countries, from the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League down to regional divisions we never expected to find. The real-time data latency is consistently under 10 seconds, and even during peak tournament periods like the World Cup or Champions League knockouts, the live scores and match events (goals, cards, substitutions, corners) update smoothly without drops.
The API structure is clean, RESTful, and genuinely developer-friendly. We had our first endpoint integrated within a single afternoon thanks to the well-structured JSON responses and clear documentation.
Whenever we hit a technical question or needed clarification on data fields, their support team responded within one business day via ticket, and the engineers actually understood the API internals rather than just sending canned replies.

Negative: The platform is laser-focused on football and basketball, which is perfect for our use case but means you'll need a separate provider if you require deep coverage of tennis, cricket.
