Virtual Serial Port Driver Description

The Virtual Serial Port Driver, developed by Electronic Team, is a utility that simulates a serial port and pairs it with another virtual serial port through a virtual null modem cable.

The software is capable of fully replicating the settings of real serial ports, including support for HandFlow control and signal lines, ensuring that the virtual ports are recognized by the operating system as if they were standard hardware serial ports.

Data transmitted to one virtual COM port is instantly mirrored in the other, creating a seamless communication link. Once a pair of virtual serial ports is established, they can be located in the Device Manager and are ready for use right from system startup, even prior to user login.

For developers looking to incorporate this functionality into their applications, the Virtual Serial Port Driver can be integrated using a DLL, ActiveX, or through core level usage, allowing for the direct creation and management of virtual COM ports within their software environment.

This integration capability provides flexibility and enhances the functionality of applications that require serial communication.

    Rock-solid virtual COM ports

    Date: Feb 18 2026

Summary: I am blind, and I use a DOS emulator for playing old text games. Since the DOS emulator doesn't interoperate with my screen reader, I use a DOS screen reader running inside the emulator, and a software speech synthesizer on the host. Since the DOS screen reader expects a COM port for the speech synthesizer, I needed a virtual nullmodem cable, and this is what I am using Virtual Serial Port Driver for.

Positive: The product installed in a matter of seconds, and the serial ports I configured were immediately available without so much as a reboot. The connection is stable and ultra-fast. Integration with Device Manager is perfect. I'm using only a fraction of the features this product offers as a virtual nullmodem cable is all I need.

Negative: The user interface could be improved in the area of accessibility for blind users, but for my very basic configuration of just a single pair of serial ports without any bells and whistles, I didn't run into anything serious.

    Perfect program!

    Date: Oct 21 2025

Summary: Excellent program! I use it to split the virtual COM ports of my transceivers (IC7300-IC9700-IC705) in interface programs that require two independent ports! I use it to pair the output of my SDR receiver, when sending audio and CAT, to the interface for FT8 decoding: it doesn't miss a beat and is PERFECT, saving me a lot of time on configurations. Congratulations! Luca IW3FQT

Positive: Clear interface, even for those with little experience! Fast and easy setup! 100% reliable, so I'm confident I won't have any other setup issues!

Negative: I haven't found any at the moment in the features I'm using!
