UPLAN Description

The UPLAN Advanced Clearing Engine - UPLAN-ACE projects day-ahead market operations using procedure adopted by operators and real time economic dispatch based upon 5-minute intervals per hour of operation. UPLAN-ACE integrates demand bids and generation offers, as well as day-ahead and actual-time generation. ACE coordinates energy and ancillary services in order to provide hourly, day-ahead operation as well as 5-minute dispatch in real-time. UPLAN-ACE's unique feature is its ability to simulate both the intermittent and renewable nature of new technologies like batteries, flywheels, and other fast-response technologies. The Real-Time Model, (RTM), simulates the hour-ahead scheduling process and real-time dispatch every five minutes. It uses the commitment schedule of DAM to forecast real-time loads and performs dispatch on an hourly basis, including optimal power flow. RTM produces LMPs and an imbalance schedule. It also revises dispatch.
