UBDPRO Description

Managed Pressure Drilling, including Underbalanced Drilling, (MPD), precisely controls the annular fluid pressure profile in a wellbore. This allows drilling of economically feasible prospects that might otherwise be unattainable. Management of pressure drilling is often done with the primary goal of reducing formation damage. The drilling process is often characterized by increased production and aerated fluid. Managed pressure drilling is used in hard rock applications to increase ROP (rates of penetration). Air/mist drilling fluids are often used. UBDPRO models complex hydraulics for compressible liquids, including air, mist and foam, as well as 2-phase fluids. This advanced software model can be used for optimizing liquid and gas injection rates to control bottomhole pressure.
