Great before billing model change Date: Feb 13 2026
Summary: We were a South River Technologies customer for over ten years and originally purchased what was represented to us as a perpetual license. For many years, the software ran reliably and required little to no support.
We only needed support after the software became non‑functional following a license expiration, at which point the application would no longer start and displayed only a license screen. The resulting support requests were therefore triggered by the software disabling itself, not by a technical failure or misuse on our end.
Unfortunately, during this period, support tickets were repeatedly closed without restoring functionality, and responses focused primarily on renewal rather than assisting with access during an active outage.
While the product had served us well historically, the handling of this situation did not align with our expectations as a long‑term customer, and we ultimately transitioned to another solution.Positive: Product worked for years. Never an issue until license model changes to subscription based only offering.
Negative: Even though website said perpetual license would be honored, server failed to authenticate causing outage in production environment without warning.
