Tornado is a Python web framework that also includes an asynchronous networking library. It was originally developed by FriendFeed. Tornado uses non-blocking network I/O to scale to thousands of open connections. This makes it ideal for long polling and WebSockets as well as other applications that require a long-lasting connection to each user. Tornado is a Python web framework that is unique. It does not use WSGI and is usually run with one thread per process. Although some support for WSGI is provided in the tornado.wsgi module it is not a main focus of development. Most applications should be written to use Tornado’s own interfaces (such WSGI directly) instead of using WSGI. Tornado code is not thread safe.
