Great value for streams made simple

    Date: Nov 06 2021

Summary: StreamYard has been amazing for our transition from nothing to two shows weekly engaging our community. Highly recommend!

    Positive: They nail their pillars.
Browser only setup is dead simple.
    Feature set is robust.
Creating destinations and shows is really easy.

    Negative: Branding/styling limitations.
    Lack of transition support.
Studio view for intermediate productions isn’t conducive to manageable workflows without hotkeys, which are only now starting to roll out but still lacking critical functionality.

    StreamYard is Top Notch

    Date: Nov 06 2021

Summary: I love StreamYard! I use it exclusively, 4 times a week.
At least 4 times a week I go live and sometimes more often, and StreamYard has been very easy to use.

    Positive: Easiest functionality.
    Cloud based.
    Simple to understand.
    Adding overlays.
The various camera views and layouts are easily interchangeable.

Negative: Not much creative control as Ecamm for example, beyond backgrounds and overlays. Not comparable with stream deck.
Would love to have a control board where you can see everything without clicking-so being able read comments without leaving the overlay section.

    Great website for streaming

    Date: Nov 05 2021

Summary: Easy to use, not too expensive, many options to customize everything, lots of support only, but lack of volume control...

Positive: Streamyard is really easy to use and offer many options. You can easily setup everything for every platforms and add guests in a blink of an eye.

Negative: There's no sound volume board helping you manage the volume of your guesses or whatever you share on screen. It makes it complicated to talk over music for instance and make a podcast live sound more professional.

    Great , But

    Date: Nov 05 2021

Summary: Love all aspects and features. I wish these features could be added. Wish we had more control over the banners formats. Sharing various media while also having “host” on screen formatting would be great. Being able to decide the logo placement

Positive: The Ease of use is amazing. Features. Love the Green screen function. Allowing guests to join is very easy. The integration with Facebook and YouTube is very easy to do.

Negative: Wish we had more control over the banners formats.
Sharing various media while also having “host” on screen formatting would be great.
Being able to decide the logo placement
Host volume control would be great if there is a guest. Sometimes it mutes the guest if the host simply says “yeah”or makes a sound in response of what is being said.
I wish the function to create an event post on Facebook was square or allowed videos so it’d be more appealing to get people excited about watching.

StreamYard is Really Good, Not Yet Great

    Date: Nov 05 2021

Summary: I'm a videographer and pretty new to StreamYard. A client asked me to find a platform for monthly live webinars, typically with just two panelists. I looked at Zoom Webinars, as they had already tried it. In the end, StreamYard seemed like a good fit.

We're actually going to use the record only feature. From there, I'll download the video and edit it in Premiere, which give me really nice flexibility with lower thirds, titles, colors, etc. We'll then upload the video to YouTube as a Premiere event, schedule it and promote it on social media.

Positive: There are several things to like.

Being a cloud-based platform is a real plus, both in terms of accessibility and from a security perspective, as some industries restrict downloading software to their systems (Financial services, etc.)

The ease of inviting participants with a simple link , and not requiring them to have an account, is a real plus.

The ability for me to host an event without being seen onscreen is terrific, as is the ability to easily add/remove participants from the studio on the fly.

Negative: I'd like to see the design side beefed up.

While creating full-screen overlays with a transparent background is workable, it would be great to be able to use smaller assets and arrange them where you want.

It would be nice to have an option on where the logo is placed.

When I host an event, I can share my screen (images, video, PowerPoint) even though I'm not visible online - so far, so good. I'd love to have the flexibility to select one participant from the panel to appear next to the screen share. At this point, only the panelist in the "first" position (top or left) can be shown as a single panelist with screen share. This would be a terrific feature.

    Streamyard Rocks

    Date: Nov 05 2021

Summary: Overall, StreamYard is awesome and makes it super easy to create a multi-camera setup for live-streaming on location.

    Positive: Ease of use.
Can share numerous views (cameras, screens, etc).
Did I mention ease of use?
Makes using and adding multiple cameras easy, especially when live-streaming on location.

Negative: Can be finicky when adding new views (goes to shared view instead of staying solo).

Easy to use, professional and almost perfect

    Edited: Nov 05 2021

Summary: StreamYard is not only a great piece of software, but its customer service is fantastic and beyond compare.

Positive: I've been using StreamYard for a year and a half for my nonprofit employer. I started using it because it was easy to learn, allowed us to brand our livestreams as our own (on the paid plans), was inexpensive, and most importantly - it worked consistently.

Since then I've become active in the StreamYard Facebook Group, where I have learned an incredible amount. Between the other users and the amazing SY staff who offer tutorials, tips, tricks, equipment knowledge, etc., we've been able to up our livestreaming game and keep ahead of our peers, and I've found a niche of digital marketing that I love. I now stream virtual and hybrid galas, symposiums, and other in-person events. I have recorded interviews to edit into short videos for social media, too.

Negative: There have been a couple of times that a SY competitor has offered features I'd like to use (analytics, hotkeys), but SY continues to develop new features at the request of their customers, and not only are those exact features coming soon but SY has features their competitors do not.

    A powerful, easy-to-use tool

    Date: Nov 05 2021

Summary: I started using StreamYard back on March 2020 and I immediately loved how easy-to-use it was, as opposed to streaming right from the social network, this platform didn’t require tech skills to work seamlessly.

It’s been almost two years since the first webinar I made through StreamYard and during this time there has been a lot of improvements and new features added. The developers are constantly innovating and listening to the customer’s feedback.

I’ve reached to their Customer Support team a few times, and they always respond promptly and with a great attitude.

As for the brand personalization options, I wish we could add our personal fonts, but so far the current themes are great and can get you a long way.

My boss has asked me to research other live-streaming platforms to see if we can find a better option, but the price-point, overall features, flexibility and ease-of-use that StreamYard offers cannot be compared!

Positive: - Anyone can quickly set up and start using this tool, no previous tech skills required.
    - Hassle-free access for my guests
    - I can see comments and reply back right from Streamyard, I don’t need to jump between platforms while streaming.
    - The new feature to livestream a pre-recorded video is amazing!
    - You can have a lot of “cameras” and give your videos a professional look, just by connecting more smartphones to the stream.

Negative: - The brand personalization is limited
    - StreamYard lacks a music/audio playing feature
    - When you stream to two or more channels of the same social network, the Comments section doesn’t specify from which channel the comments are coming from.

Reliable but Slow Development & Poor Audio Quality

    Date: Nov 05 2021

Summary: This is probably the best web-platform-based option available at this price point for shows looking to handle guests. It has solid re-stream options, the ability to upload overlays and branding, and handles most situations with reliable results, which is why it is relatively easy to use for newbies. However anyone with broadcast experience quickly sees the limitations: the GUI does not adhere to broadcast standard (there is still no dark mode!); the platform is hampered by slow and uneven development; there is a lack of broadcast options backstage; and there is inexcusably poor audio quality, especially when paying for 1080HD streams that only have 128kpbs audio.

Positive: This is a relatively easy-to-use browser interface for basic broadcasting, allowing for multiple guests from different locations, with decent restream options to most major platforms including Twitch and YouTube. For basic users, such as podcasters and church broadcasts, it probably has all you need: backstage guest management, integrated chat across multiple platforms, overlay libraries, and easy click-options to add and remove guests and screen content. As I write in Nov 2021, hotkeys have just been added as a beta feature, which (finally) gives users the ability to integrate with StreamDeck and enhance ease-of-use.

Negative: Development on StreamYard is very slow. Hotkeys took over two years to implement; the feature was so requested it was in the FAQ. Audio quality is also poor; StreamYard only outputs at a paltry 128kpbs, which introduces audio glitching as Twitch and YouTube output at 256kpbs, making this platform a poor choice for musicians or concerts. Many recent changes to the interface and storage options were not well thought-out, with almost immediately users asking for fixes. The GUI still needs a lot of work; if Facebook boots you from the restream, a series of pop-ups *cover the broadcast screen* requiring multiple clicks to resolve (which is a big no-no in broadcasting, and undermines the "ease of use" principles SY says it embraces). Many basic principles of broadcasting found in other solutions are not implemented, which is strange: there is no on-screen audio monitoring or volume adjustment; the backstage host also cannot control guest audio mute/unmute if the guest clicks on their mute button first (which shows how SY is unsure whether their platform is _really_ for broadcasters who are _legally_ responsible for guest content); there are no picture-in-picture inset options; there is no dark mode (most broadcasting/video software is by default black/grey for a reason); and there is no ability to loop uploaded video. The lack of basic audio monitoring and backstage control over the broadcasting process limits SY's use and reach.

    StreamYard experience

    Date: Nov 27 2020

Summary: A good start for new users till they get savvy and can go to more challenging aspects. Sound is ok too. Paid option has decent features.

Positive: Easy to set up, seamless with facebook and youtube (most popular), simple to use, green screen option is easy for images, clarity is normal. Display of comments from audience is a great way to interact.

Negative: Support doesn't help much (thankfully there aren't too many issues), link to LinkedIn doesn't get a response for ages though they ask you to fill a form to request streaming to LinkedIn, hangs midway sometimes, no video green screen background, scrollers character limit is 200 only. Logo on two sides should be easier to do.
