After seven months of non-stop work and more than two years of continuous testing by hundreds SpinRite 6.0 prepurchase volunteers, we are proud to announce the sixth major version. This new version is available for upgrade to existing users and sale to new customers. This major milestone release of SpinRite operates directly on magnetic storage media at a level lower than any installed operating system. It can operate on all Windows XP NTFS files, all DOS FAT file systems, Novell and Macintosh. It can even be used to recover the hard drive from an ailing TiVo. SpinRite v6.0 is completely independent of any operating system by incorporating the FreeDOS OS operating system. This allows it to work on all Intel/AMD computers. As you can see in the Windows screen image, SpinRite can create a bootable discette or a standard ISO file that can be burned to CD-R.
