What is the web3 equivalent? Shadow Drive. With just a bit of $SHDW and any Solana wallet, users can create permanent, dedicated storage for their files. It doesn't even hash filenames. Any software developer who wants to create a dApp that needs file storage (either because the app creates or users upload data), Shadow Drive includes a full-fledged SDK in JS or Rust for baking storage capability directly into your dApp. An RPC stores and performs all the same tasks as a Solana validator, except for actual voting on new blocks. It also handles large numbers of data lookups for Solana's blockchain. Because it handles all traffic as a validator, but also the additional traffic of looking up data.
