SecureDrop Description

SecureDrop is an open-source whistleblower submission system that news organizations can use to anonymously receive tips and documents from sources. In many leak cases, the metadata of a journalist's communications--where you're located, who you're talking to, when you're talking to them, and how often--can lead to trouble just as much as the actual content of your conversations. SecureDrop logs far less information than email providers and phone companies, even if a government serves a court warrant directly to a news agency to compel disclosure of information. SecureDrop communications are encrypted in transit. This means messages cannot be intercepted or read while they traverse the Internet. They are also encrypted on the server to prevent any attacker from reading past messages.
