RayCAD is a plugin for Autodesk Revit that streamlines the process of tagging and annotating HVAC and piping views in MEP shop drawings. Users can map their own tag families to Revit element families and set up rules for tag placement, frequency, and layout. By analyzing model data within Revit, RayCAD automatically positions tags where there are changes in the configured information while preventing overlaps. It is compatible with both native Revit elements and their fabrication counterparts, such as ducts, pipes, fittings, accessories, equipment, and generic models, on both floor plans and sectional views. Additionally, a review panel identifies elements that require manual intervention; users have the ability to retag modified elements, utilize saved presets, and revert recent actions. This software operates on the user’s computer but necessitates an internet connection for license verification. Supporting Revit versions from 2021 to 2027, RayCAD is designed specifically for MEP drafting teams working on construction or fabrication documentation, though it currently does not include support for electrical and fire-protection tagging.
