Pound Description

The Pound program acts as a reverse proxy, load-balancer, and HTTPS front end for Web server(s). Pound was created to distribute the load between several Web-servers. It also provides an easy way to wrap SSL for Web servers that don't offer it natively. Pound is free and open-source under the GPL. There is no warranty. You can copy, share, and give away the program. Pound is a small program that can be easily audited for security issues. It can be run as setuid/setgid or in a chroot prison. Pound has no access to the hard-disk (except for reading certificate files on start if necessary) and should not pose any security threat to any machine.
