PeerTube Description

Free software to regain control over your videos. PeerTube is a free and decentralized alternative for video platforms. It offers over 400,000 videos that have been published by 60,000 users. These videos have been viewed more than 15 million times. PeerTube strives to be a free and open-source alternative to video broadcasting services. Our goal is not to replace them but to simultaneously offer something different with different values. PeerTube does not intend to be a giant platform that would aggregate videos from all over the globe. It is a network of small, interconnected video hosts. Anybody with some technical skills can host a PeerTube instance, also known as a PeerTube server. Each instance hosts its users, and their videos. This allows each instance to be created, moderated, and maintained by different administrators.

    PeerTube is exactly what we need now for P2P video/podcasts, etc.

    Summary: Use PeerTube server with the free Hive-Tube plugin installed, and your passive income will flow.

    5-stars! :)

    Positive: PeerTube v4 and higher is awesome. Great p2p tech. It even comes with an easy to use docker container. Any server admin with basic skills can install and configure PeerTube. Remote storage and (soon) remote transcoding will be supported as well. You can't get much more decentralised than that.

    Just fyi, there's also a free plugin for PeerTube server now called "Hive-Tube". Any video or podcast etc that you upload, or import from Youtube (and other sites) can be auto-monetized, providing you (and even your viewers/listeners if desired) with passive income.

    Negative: Cons? I honestly can't think of any. Remote transcoding will be nice too, but that isn't really needed anyway unless you run a huge site like youtube or something.
