Paligo Description

For decades CCMS and content authoring solutions have been lagging behind in the fast-paced world of cloud technology. We’re changing that.

Paligo was founded by people with many years of experience in the field of technical documentation. We’re using that experience to build the modern web platform that we would have wanted to use ourselves.

Our goal is to make structured authoring more accessible to a wider audience by simplifying and demystifying the process. This is achieved through our intuitive and user-friendly CCMS, which is both powerful and robust, enabling our customers to easily author, manage, translate, and publish multichannel content.

Simple-to-use CMS with advanced functionality that delivers!

    Date: Jan 08 2024

Summary: You don't need to be a computer systems engineer to use this premium CMS. With very long experience, I can say that this is the case very often!
So instead, in fact, the content writer, media creator and translator can focus on their roles and let Paligo handle the linking of everything and thus simply ensure that you get the information you make to your stakeholders in a very easy-going but at the same time very reliable way.

Positive: The simplicity, a very intuitive interface, a reliable uptime, and a first-class support for small and large issues that may arise. Notably simple image processing can be added. When it comes to managing translations, Paligo has made it very convenient for the user and you soon get a feel for how the other languages are developing, while the original language can be version managed, so that a possible update of e.g. a product manual does not become a big burden for the user, but on the contrary, Paligo offers a very controlled way of working, even for groups of authors. In short, Paligo is a professional content management system but which has retained simplicity and logic for ordinary people.

Negative: Sometimes it can be difficult to determine—when you have many similar products and releases—whether a change to product A will affect product B. Paligo is a fairly open CMS where a logical mistake made by a user can have effects on content which is shared with other products/manuals. One way to get around this is to give the so-called released status of your products/manuals. But if some content is being translated at the same time, a conflict of interest may arise if a manual A should be released (for security reasons) if another manual B is also being translated and they happen to share the same content. Therefore, it is recommended to manually release objects and not blindly trust that a release's publications at all, if any, are currently in translation. It seems most suitable to work in cycles (work-translation-release) and thus these possible problems do not arise.

    Best product for technical writing

    Date: Jan 05 2024

Summary: So far the best product for tech writing, easy to use, user-friendly, a lot of amazing functionalities and in case of any issue, great reactivity from the team!

Positive: All tools are well-designed for our uses, it's not a simple editor. Very easy to learn as well, all good!

Negative: Dome small functionalities might be missing, but it only to automatically have an attribute to an element.

    Clinical Content Early Adopter

    Date: Dec 13 2023

Summary: Excellent overall, easy to implement and train on use. Immediately the version management and content development tools made a huge difference in the Team's quality of content produced. The sign-off by assignment of content is now a key part of documentation of regulatory required peer-review for our organization.

Positive: Search capability, content reuse options, assignments with approvals/rejections and format stability.

Negative: Citations are essential for clinical content and the creation/use/management is not a very easy/friendly process (like other Paligo processes).

Dependable, user friendly CCMS with good functionality

    Edited: Jan 14 2024

Summary: Overall being new to the tool it was a quick ramp-up and most questions are answered in the help. They are responsive with tickets, have integrations with content delivery platforms and seem to support most use cases. The team is knowledgeable about their product, professional, helpful and friendly.

Positive: Native SaaS, not built on an older technology base. The product is robust, intuitive with good functionality. Supports versions (branching), workflows and meta-tagging. We use it for a flat model w/o versions and only use branching for making changes then merge back. We don't localize so haven't experience that workflow. The product seems very stable. And for a SaaS solution you don't feel the latency and doesn't impact work.

Negative: It can be challenging to find source items, even with a robust advanced search. Often when you want to refer to items while keeping your place you can only load the item in the same window, losing your place. Its not critical but can be frustrating. Also the costs are significant, though comparable to other SaaS solutions.
