OpenTofu Description
OpenTofu, a Terraform fork created by Gruntwork and other companies, was created in response to HashiCorp switching from an open-source to BUSL license. The initiative has many supporters. OpenTofu 1.6.x and Terraform 1.6.x are very similar in terms of features. In the future, feature sets of the two projects will diverge. OpenTofu, on the other hand, is open-source and its goal is to be collaborative. No single company can dictate the roadmap. The situation will cause more problems for companies. It is risky to switch projects, but it's even more so if the project changes its licenses without warning. This risk can be minimized by giving OpenTofu over to the Linux Foundation. Also, OpenTofu's goal of maintaining feature parity for future releases with Terraform reduces technical risks.
