GeoHECRAS is a river modeling software used to compute water surface profiles for steady and unsteady flow models, bridge and culvert roadway crossings, FEMA floodplain encroachments, stream restorations, inline reservoir structures, off-channel storage areas, and much more. GeoHECRAS provides an easy-to-use, single graphical platform to rapidly create stunning HEC-RAS models and 3D visualizations from a variety of different data sources like AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, Google Maps, Bing Maps, and more.

Play Video The Army Corps of Engineers HEC-RAS software generates 2D meshes that contain elements that are marked “bad” and require manually fixing by the user. GeoHECRAS will automatically detect and fix these bad elements without requiring any interaction by the user. Ineffective flow areas can be assigned to the 2D mesh using polylines or polygons. Alternatively, draw ineffective flow areas on the Map View. For example, stagnant flow areas at roadway crossings can be stamped into the 2D mesh to account for the ineffective flow area. The software will automatically refine the 2D flow area to incorporate the ineffective flow area shape. In addition to HEC-RAS’ default rectangular (structured) 2D computational mesh, the software can create an adaptive 2D mesh to better represent more complicated 2D flow conditions and structures. The software will automatically refine the 2D mesh where required, such as at a roadway crossing bridge opening. Export flood map animations to Google Earth. This is helpful for presentations on flood risk assessment and flood management.

    GeoHECRAS is very efficient and easy to use

    Summary: Our company mainly use GeoHECRAS to model bridges, culverts, and RCBs. Because of its user-friendly design, using GeoHECRAS to build hydraulic models saves lots of time. And this saves us lots of money too!

    Positive: GeoHECRAS has helped our team become more efficient when taking on complex projects. It's been easy to integrate data from Civil3D and Microstation to get a hydraulic model up and running faster.

    Negative: I honestly can't think of any downsides! Specially after CivilGEO has been keeping their knowledge base updated with all the questions that one might face.
