    Someone's trash is anothers treasure

    Date: Jul 30 2022

Summary: Overall, I think there are very few things in life that you have to buy brand new. So, you might as well buy it used at a cheaper price and Facebook marketplace provides that.

Positive: Easy to use whether you are selling something or buying an item. There is nothing fancy about the platform, but I think that is what makes it so easy to use. I like how I can buy things at a cheaper price and still have it most of the time really good quality.

Negative: There are sellers/buyers on there that are scamming people. Not a ton, but enough that I would have hoped that Facebook would try to take care of those that are reported.

    Simple design, great concept

    Date: Oct 12 2021

Summary: Overall when using Facebook marketplace it takes a little commitment to find something great! Specifically, if you are looking for a used product at a decent price.

Positive: I love thrifting and absolutely love using Facebook marketplace to do so. It allows me to browse used and thrifted items from the comfort of my own home. I'm also able to easily sell some of my own belongings and make a quick buck!

Negative: The interface isn't super easy to navigate, could use an update.

    Best alternative to craiglist

    Date: Sep 19 2021

Summary: Much better experience than other free marketplaces like craigslist. Very easy to buy and to sell. I highly recommend trying this.

Positive: It's much safer than craigslist because you can see the person's picture as well as their public posts on their wall.

Negative: I don't like how it defaults to "local and delivery". Most of the times I don't want an item shipped.

    Facebook Marketplace review

    Date: Sep 24 2023

Summary: Have now given up and deleted and use eBay more. Often description is wrong or no replies, so frustrating!

Positive: Ability to view items in my locality for sale and have the ability to search for nearest first to avoid extensive travel!

Negative: Completely useless to search for an item without non relevant items coming up, e g e type Jaguar and get BMW E whatever model, vast majority non appropriate. Nearest item first doesn't work either and slow to scroll, although could be my computer!!!!!

One of the lower ends of the markets

    Date: Mar 17 2022

Summary: I like marketplace, but you never know if you are driving 3 hours to get scammed or not. Not very easy to tell if someone is trustworthy.

Positive: I bought my motorcycle off here. It was nice to see what was within range of you and 200 miles out that was posted.

Negative: It's nice to see what is local. But you can't just "buy" it like you could on Ebay or etsy. It's people's stuff that they are selling and most communities have a yardsale page.

Con Artists - Falsely Advertised £18 for 3 days, they've charged me £35.98!!!

    Date: Dec 31 2023

Summary: Falsely Advertised £18 for 3 days, they've charged me £35.98!!!

They falsely advertised their max boost as a total of £18.00 for three days of boosted listing. They have been charging me for three days at £10! and they say I owe them £5.98 additionally. I have had ZERO messages about my adverts and ZERO sales.
Will never pay for boosted ads again!!

    Positive: Nothing.

The only pro is that it was easy to set up.

Negative: Falsely Advertised £18 for 3 days, they've charged me £35.98!!!

Also, there's no way to contact their support by email or call.

Good luck trying to get some help with your listing.

    Date: Sep 19 2023

Summary: Obviously, Meta does not care about you! They only work with big advertisers but DO NOT CARE about the private individual.

Positive: Stay away from this platform. No support is provided. Support staff cannot help so they escalate the problem upwards where your issue disappears forever.

Negative: A small issue appeared in one of my ads and I was unable to fix it online. Contacted customer support on chat and email. I was transferred from one desk/person to another. Each time I had to re-explain what the problem was, very frustrating. Now after 10 such transfer and 2 weeks later...ad has still not been fixed.

    Facebook Marketplace sucks

    Date: Jul 11 2023

    Summary: Facebook Marketplace sucks.

    Positive: None. Nothing to say.

Negative: FB rejects my offer claiming it is against their policy and I get a warning that they will block my account if I try to post something like this again. Item for sale: "6 Sided Heavy Duty Dog Style Puppy Playpen." Asking for a review won't get you anywhere and after a few tries it didn't change anything. Worst place to sell.

    Total Scam

    Date: Jul 07 2023

Summary: Would NOT recommend overall especially for online transactions where Facebook handles the money exchange. If you sell the product your money is still at risk, while the buyer is never obligated to return your product.

Positive: Posting is easy and there is a good variety. Facebook's user base is large so you can be sure your product is visible.

Negative: Facebook scammed me out of an Apple Watch I sold. The buyer placed an online order and then filed a buyers' claim when I shipped it. Facebook, without doing proper diligence, approved the claim and refunded the buyer AND let them keep my Apple Watch. (There was not anything wrong with the watch, it was exactly as advertised). So now I'm out of both the watch and my money. When I message Facebook all their responses is "sorry we can't help with this type of issue". No accountability, total scam!

    Scams scams scams

    Date: Mar 22 2023

Summary: Bad to worse! To many time that people have try to lure me to remote places in other to sell something. Too dangerous for this kind of thing, make the entire platform useless.

Positive: There are no Pros to it. It just has way too many scams, and some could be dangerous with people trying to lure you out some where remote to do what ever to you.

Negative: All or most of what I see when trying to sell on market place is scams. Seems like a moderator would be needed here to stop it or at least slow it down.

    Facebook Marketplace sucks!

    Date: Oct 29 2022

Summary: Negative overall experience. Nobody at Facebook maintains the site. It is nothing but a money maker. Use at your own risk.

Positive: There are no pros to mention whatsoever. It is a horrible site. They make tons of money off of it, which is the only reason they have it.

Negative: Nobody at Facebook cares about or properly maintains Facebook Marketplace. It's rampant with scams. There are sooo many listing glitches. Some of my listings do not include my shipping options, even though I include them in the listing. I have tried editing, relisting, contacting FB Marketplace & they simply don't care & refuse to fix their glitches which hurts my sales. I have 5 star seller feedback, but I have had enough of their mismanagement & total lack thereof & am very close to deleting it altogether.

    Beware of Facebook Marketplace

    Date: Oct 14 2022

Summary: I haven't words to say how awful Facebook Marketplace has been.

Positive: I liked their promise to protect buyers, but they lied.

Negative: I got scammed by a seller for over $2,000.00 and - - although Facebook assures buyers they'll be there to protect us - - Facebook has done nothing. I have so much evidence that Better Business Bureau stepped in, but Facebook / Meta never even bothered to respond.

They have an "F" Rating with BBB. They've earned it.

    Avoid at All Costs

    Date: Aug 21 2022

Summary: No benefits unless you like to waste your time. A worthless deceitful evil company that needs to be sued out of business.

Positive: No benefits unless you like to waste your time. A worthless deceitful evil company that needs to be sued out of business.

Negative: Utterly worthless listing form. They took away the ability to create paragraphs thus your text will appear as one giant block that no one will read.

No place to put your terms. I used to place these below the description but they no longer allows paragraphs so you can't do that anymore.

No support. Ban items because they can't code bots correctly. List a book on dogs and it will be flagged for selling actual dogs.

Facebook will attempt to extort you into uploading a copy of your driver's license by suspending your account. Tell them to get lost.

They want you to upgrade to a more worthless paid version of the service to offer shipping based on shipping rules (not calculated shipping). This comes with an online payment service that you should only accept if you want to give away free items and shipping to scammers when Facebook rubber stamps any complaint they simply makeup.
