A product to tag and retrieve images easily and quickly

    Date: Jun 16 2022

Summary: Loving the control & flexibility to catalogue images, use in virtual folders with tags and retrieve with ease.

Positive: After using the Daminion software for a long time reviewing it as a 5-star product is no problem. Tagging my images with the plus point that the information is kept with the image has allowed me to catalogue at present nearly 12000 costume images. Tagging can be done by typing the hierarchical levels in the category field or using a right-hand click to display Assignment checkboxes to check or by selecting one or more images and moving them over the selected tag. A colour tag was restrictive but Daminion allows custom fields so extra colours and shades of those colours can be tagged in the same way. I have also added Pattern as a custom tag too. When displaying details connected to an image the properties display can be reduced to just the used fields and tags but all common fields like photo properties and geo-locations which I don't use are available as standard, A simple filter allows images to be picked quickly as well as an advanced to create more complex selections which can be saved for future use. Creating a catalogue of costume images allowing selection on style, colour etc. Daminion allows this to happen easier and so much quicker because of the tags given to each of the images.

Negative: One aspect which could be improved is the import into the catalogue before working on the images which can be slow. The PC I am using is currently not powerful enough to utilise the face recognition but that is not used in the main project I am using Daminion for.
