Color Decision Description
ASC-CDL is a standard format for exchanging basic primary color grading data between different manufacturers' equipment and software. It is an industry standard exchange format for film and TV. The ASC CDL allows color corrections (slope, offset, power) made at one location with a compliant device to be applied or altered by another compliant device elsewhere. A cinematographer, for example, can create different looks remotely and then share the ASC CDL (plus transforms as applicable) with a colorist at a post-production facility. The colorist will use this color correction as a starting place for the final color correction. Color Decision allows users to overlay useful tools to assist with fine-tuning their color, such as split screens for previewing before/after or various resizable scops.
